    Bukinda to celebrate Elevation of Ryabirengye Church to Parish Status at Mega Thanksgiving

    Rukiga: The elevation of Ryabirengye Church of Uganda in Bukinda, Rukiga District, to parish level is being hailed as a major milestone for the community.

    The church will hold a Mega Thanksgiving Service on Thursday, 16th August 2026, under the theme _“Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised”_ Psalm 46:1. The event is expected to mark the completion of the church building and celebrate its new parish status.

    Hon. Roland Bish Ndyomugyenyi, Chief Host and Chief Mobilizer, has been credited for his consistent support towards the growth of the church. The former Rukiga District MP is also recognized for his continued impact through the Roland Ndyomugyenyi Education Fund, which remains active after his time in Parliament.

    Rt. Rev. Gad Akanjuna, Bishop of Kigezi Diocese, will officiate as Chief Celebrant and lead the grand ceremony.

    Hon. Bish Ndyomugyenyi notes, “The first responsibility of a leader is to define reality. The last is to say thank you. In between, the leader is a servant.”

    Hon. Roland Ndyomugyenyi Bish, an independent candidate for Rukiga County MP seat 2026 is seen again as the perfect man to lead the county into the 12th Parliament. Hon. Roland who is the area’s current MP has been one of the most vibrant and one for the highest performing legislators in the 11th Parliament both on the floor and on the ground. He has been instrumental in building infrastructure in the area especially roads which have eased transport in the area.

    Last week on Wednesday, Hon. Bish Roland Ndyomugyenyi was officially nominated as an independent candidate to seek for second term as Rukiga County in Rukiga District MP come 2026.

    After his nomination at Rukiga District Electoral Commission offices, he held his nomination rally at Muhanga and marked the historical moment by launching his manifesto.

    “This event signifies a new chapter in our journey towards progress and prosperity. Our vision for our region is clear: empowering farmers, boosting local economy, and improving livelihoods,” Hon. Bish said.

    Who is Alex Magezi Kanuga?

    Alex Magezi Kanuga(AMK), widely known in Rukiga as Kanuga( his late father’s name), is a distinguished figure originating from Kigara Kamwezi in the Rukiga district. Transforming from a skilled Statistician/Health economist into a thriving International businessman, he currently holds the position of Chairman/CEO at Kanuga Auto, a prestigious South African dealership specializing in Mercedes, BMW, and Land Rover parts and cars. Additionally, he serves as a Partner and Director at SA Health, an international health equipment and sundries distributor company with branches spanning South Africa, Zambia, Tanzania, and Uganda.

    In the realm of humanitarian work, Kanuga is a founder of Southern Health Foundation and International NGO, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Health Programs and Systems, a leading South African NGO. Back Home Alex Kanuga is the Patron Rukiga Students Association-Makerere University (RUSA) and also patron of the Kamwezi Togetherness Association (KATA), that plays a pivotal role in uniting Kamwezians in development.Not confined to boardrooms and associations, he also engages in farming activities in Luwero, Uganda.

    Educationally, Kanuga holds a Master’s degree in Health Economics from the University of Cape Town in South Africa, a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics/Economics from Makerere University in Uganda, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Management with a specialization in Monitoring and Evaluation from Witwatersrand University in SA. His educational journey began at Kamwezi Primary School and Nyabirerema Primary School, followed by secondary education at Kigezi High School, culminating in higher education at Nyakasura School, where he studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM).

    Alex MK’s career trajectory is marked by a brief stint at the Department of Statistics in Entebbe after university, followed by over a decade at British American Tobacco. Starting as a Market Analyst, he climbed the ranks to become the National Sales Manager before embarking on a journey to South Africa in 2001. There, he contributed significantly as a Biostatistician in the Department of Health and later as an M&E specialist for USAID and CDC-funded NGOs. In 2006, Alex transitioned from full-time professional employment to full-time business.

    Rooted in a politically active family, Alex MK’s involvement in politics traces back to his youth. Born into a family where his father and uncles were among the first FRONASA operatives in Kigezi, he experienced the political landscape first hand. Noteworthy is his contribution to Rukiga politics, where, with his charismatic approach and determination, he assisted Jack Sabiiti in winning the Rukiga MP seat in 2001. After years in South Africa, he returned to Uganda in 2016 and, in 2021, played a pivotal role in securing victory for his friend Hon. Roland Ndyomugyenyi in the Rukiga MP seat.     MP Roland Ndyomugyenyi commends President Museveni’s leadership

    Rukiga County in Rukiga District Member of Parliament Hon. Roland Bish Ndyomugyenyi, has commended President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s leadership for fostering development through Economic empowerment, peace and stability. He said this during a meeting with Local Council 1.

    The meeting was aimed at preparing for the President’s visit to monitor the Parish Development Model (PDM). Hon. Bish emphasized the pressing challenges facing Rukiga, including stopping wetland usage, addressing electricity issues, and constructing a district main hall and hospital.

    Over UGX 20m raised for Nyakihanga Health Centre as Hon. Roland Bish leads the drive

    Over UGX 20m were raised at a Fundraising Drive for the construction of Nyakihanga Health Centre Staff quarters yesterday in Rukiga County, Rukiga District.

    The area MP Hon. Ndyomugyenyi Roland Bish who was the chief guest appreciated the support everyone put in to make sure that the staff get where to sleep as they take care of the patients.

    Prior to the drive, Hon. Bish Roland joined Christians of St. James Buhangizi COU for the Sunday Service.

    He later officiated at the fundraising function for Nyakihanga H/c Medical Worker’s House at Nyakihange Church of Uganda in Kashekye Parish, Kamwezi S/c, Rukiga.

    Hon Ndyomugyenyi Roland Bish was joined by fellow Members of Parliament who among was Hon. Eng Nelson Okello MP Maruzi County , Hon.Tonny MP Nwoya County and Hon Nathan MP Bukanga at Nyakihanga Health center II.

    The function raised over 20m in cash which is geared towards the construction of a staff house to enable health workers get a descent accommodation to enhance service delivery at the health facility.

    Hon. Roland Ndyomugyenyi on the same day officiated at the football match between Kamwezi Select and Kamwezi United at Nyakihanga Playground in Kamwezi Sub County.

    He pledged to continue supporting sports and also urged them to use their talent as a source of income.

    Hon Bish Roland also launched the Value addition component at Rukiga Community Seed Bank.

    The Value addition component will help in the reinstatement and Combating malnutrition plus ensuring food insecurity in Rukiga.

    Mr. Fixer as he is nicknamed is surely fixing the Constituency and Country at large.

    Rukiga County in Rukiga District Member of Parliament (MP) Hon. Roland Bish Ndyomugyenyi has been praised for stellah performance in Parliament between May 2023 to April 2024.

    The legislator dubbed Mr. Fixer and Mr. Accountability is one of the best performing MPs in the 11th Parliament and his recognition has not come as a surprise.
