    It was an explosive throwback night as the Smirnoff sponsored NTV Dance Party gave a special tribute to old school hits in what they dubbed the Kikadde Edition on Saturday night.

    President Yoweri Museveni had just addressed the nation, saying that the economy will open up in January. With the festive season around the corner and no bars and clubs opening in sight, revellers still have to turn to TV for weekend entertainment and the Dance Party didn’t disappoint.

    To kick-start the show, the dazzling Lynda Ddane, vibrant Crysto Panda , MC Esco and Uganda’s top spin doctors DJ Ciza, DJ Pitto and VJ Baby Love treated the viewers to a joyful dance fest with their signature moves. Undisputed oldies music top spin master DJ Mark Rebel then took to the decks and took viewers down memory lane.

    From Oliver Mtukudzi’s Todii, Halima Namakula’s Ekimbewo to Brenda Fassie’s Ag Lovey Shame, the show was a cocktail of the early 2000 favourites mixed with the 90s and 80s bangers. The nonstop beats and grooves were infectious as many took it to social media to praise the show.

    “NTV Dance Party is life after this Man-U loss,” one of the tweeps recovering from his team’s humiliating loss posted.
    Another tweep posted NTV Dance Party is full of life while another stated, “Even if music at NTV Dance Party plays for a full year I have no problem.”

    To make the virtual party complete, the amplified bartenders pulled off some mixologist tricks before sharing the special Smirnoff cocktail recipes for people at home to mix their own drinks and seal off the night.

    As coronavirus continues to haunt the entertainment industry with President Yoweri Museveni saying opening up is envisioned in January 2022, one of the most anticiptated theme parties – Halloween will not be held physically.

    But in the spirit of keeping Halloween Parties going, Smirnoff in partnership with the NTV Dance Party will celebrate the day with the show hosts Crysto Panda, MC Esco and the stunning Etania who is standing in for Lynda Ddane donning crazy costumes, thrilling music from the spin doctors VJ Baby Love, DJ Mark Rebel and special Smirnoff Halloween cocktail recipes from the Amplified Bartenders.

    “Every party needs a signature cocktail and this trick or treat day would be incomplete without our special Smirnoff Halloween cocktail. We are counting on our consumers out there to pick from the TV Special and recreate their own drinks as we celebrate the holiday.” said Annet Nakiyaga, International Premium Spirits Brand Manager at UBL.

    Whereas many theories revolve around the origin of Halloween, the day that is celebrated every October 31 has evolved into a fete were people engage in joyous celebrations to mark the age-old tradition against spirits.

    As the country marked 59 years of Independence, NTV Dance Party together with Smirnoff hosted a special Independence Day edition dedicated to celebrating Uganda’s musical heritage throughout the years.

    To kick off the celebration the “triple threat” Lynda Ddane, Crystal Panda and Mc Esco each wore a colour of the National Flag. The DJs of the night; DJ Babylove, DJ Pitto and Mark Rebel took the viewers down memory lane with the best all-time local hits crowned with enticing  dance moves from the stunning Lyndah Ddane.

    The NTV Dance Party was anything but ordinary as viewers were gifted with an intense evening of fun vibes and Smirnoff cocktail recipes from the Amplified Bartenders.

    “Smirnoff turns up the taste of every celebration and this was a good time to reminisce where we have come from musically as a country. We know that entertainment spaces are still closed, and that’s why we partner with NTV to bring the party straight to your living room,” said Annette Nakiyaga, the International Premium Spirits Brand Manager at UBL.

    NTV’s Dance party in conjunction with longtime collaborators Smirnoff is set to turn the party a notch higher to commemorate Uganda’s 59th Independence Day.

    The NTV Dance party has established itself as the official Saturday night “plot” in the country. When bars were closed in March last year and the parties could not be turned up like before, the Dance Party brought the party to every living room in the country.

    Saturday’s special edition of the Dance Party will be about celebrating Uganda’s musical heritage through the years. The usual hosts Lynda Dane, Crysto Panda and Esco MC will guide the proceedings alongside the wickedest scratches from Deejays, Ciza, Pito, Baby Love and Mark Rebel.
    It will be a black-yellow-red affair and fans will be treated to lots of Smirnoff giveaways in the spirit of turning up the taste.

    On the lineup are special guest appearances from some of Uganda’s finest entertainers who will perform alongside the night’s deejays to commemorate Uganda’s 59th birthday.
    The NTV Dance party is a lockdown innovation that aims to bring the Saturday night party to the comfort of everyone’s living room.

    On top of the DJ mixes and performances, there are always live bartenders showcasing different Smirnoff cocktails that people can make at home.

    The show airs on NTV every Saturday night from 10pm until late under the stewardship of live television’s finest stewards.

    Smirnoff and NTV defied the lockdown odds and produced the biggest ultimate dance partythat has for the past 52 weekends turned gloomy Saturdays into exciting evenings.

    Yesterday Saturday April 24, the  Smirnoff sponsored dance party made a year of bringing the party to people’s living rooms , the night was kicked off with a special oldies edition that saw the viewer’s taken on a memory lane of all their favorite old jams.


    Unlike the other shows, this dance party edition was fun packed as the NTV Mix show hosts     Daggy Nyce and Etania joined Lynda Ddane,Mc Esco and Crysto Panda to celebrate the one year milestone.


    From the legend     Chameleone, arguably lockdown’s biggest artist Pallaso ,Weasel ,YkeeBenda,B2C, Fefe Bussi to Fik Fameica the viewers were kept on their feet.


    However the     highlights of the night were FikFameica , Etania dancing to Buligita and the B2C, Lynda Ddane performing  their hit song Munda awo.

    Ann Nakawombe, the producer of the NTV Dance Party thanked Smirnoff for being part of the ultimate dance party.


    “It’s been 52 dance parties and I want to thank everyone that has made the dance party a success.     In a special way I want to thank Smirnoff for supporting the party every weekend,” said Nakawombe

    At the beginning of the show viewers were tasked with solving the brief case mystery and the lucky winner was gifted a Smirnoff ice pack.

    To crown off the night’s celebration, the dance party team cut cake.

    In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic that saw the entertainment industry crippled, the world’s most awarded premium vodka, Smirnoff partnered with NTV to give viewers an ultimate dance party experience dubbed the NTV Dance Party.
    The show was formed to encourage people keep up the weekend outgoing spirit, however, this time partying while staying safely at home during the lockdown.


    From Lynda Ddane’s dazzling fashion sense to the electrifying music played by Guvnor DJs Baby Love and Mark Rebel to the energy of presenters Crysto Panda and Esco Mc and the signature Smirnoff cocktail recipes, viewers were taken on an entertainment journey at a time when everything had shut down and the world was a sad and gloomy place, every single Saturday.


    NTV Dance party also held a series of fun games like the, ‘dress up to go nowhere,’ where viewers were given an opportunity to dress up in their favorite outfits and chill with friends and family whilst enjoying a Smirnoff. The best dressed viewers won prizes like the Smirnoff starter packs that included a crate of Smirnoff, two bottles of vodka, a bar set up, a mixologist and a DJ delivered at the winner’s doorstep for enjoyment.

    As the show celebrates a year of bringing the party to its viewer’s homes this Saturday April 24, the Brand Manager of Smirnoff, Annet Nakigaya, the official sponsor of the ultimate party says that the most Ugandan thing we can all do is keep safe and hang out from home.


    “Smirnoff is a brand that recognizes the importance of adapting as things change in society and is committed to doing the right thing and the NTV Dance Party is the perfect choice to stay connected with family, friends while hanging out from home,” said Nakiyaga.

    Several artistes are lined up to perform during the show and there are lots of Smirnoff goodies to be won by viewers.

    Two of the leading country’s television stations unleashed their mighty power on entertainment by hosting two oldies nights.

    What is interesting is that the two rival stations had same night theme of ‘Oldies’.

    It is not clear which of the two rival stations stole the other’s ideas.

    But we must admit that the entertainment was on top.

    NBS star presenters like MC Percy, Alaine Alya, Argatha Loswash, DJ Faisal and a host of other babes rocked the NBS Saturday Night Live (SNL) . The NTV Dance Party was dubbed ‘All Stars party’ with DJs Bryan, Mark Rebel, Fame, Baby Love alongside star presenters Dagy Nyce, Lynda Ddane, Etania Mutoni, Escom and Crysto Panda rocking the night.
