    The weekend was eventful with mostly festivals that happened on the different corners of Kampala. But as it stands, the biggest and well attended was Nsenene Ku Beat that took place at Naguru Garden Hilltop. And to the surprise of many, the event was covered by a team from BBC who believed and had a great experience on set.


    The event which started on the low with rain trying to disrupt later gained oomph when it stopped raining and youthful revellers started storming the grounds to enjoy different kinds and delicacies of Nsenene (Grasshoppers).

    Like the name of the event suggested, revellers enjoyed different kinds of Nsenene as they jam to music played by DJs and performed by the artistes.

    Revellers were seen playing cards and others resorting to face painting as they waited for performances to kick off.

    There were performances from Rapper Fresh Kid, Singer Jowy Landa, Soul Sister, Crysto Panda, Ring Rapper, Ibrah Buwembo and lots more. The show that was hosted by comedians Collins Emeka and Optional Allan was also covered by international brand.

    The first edition of the Nsenene Ku Beat attracted a good crowd and the organisers promised better in the subsequent editions.

    Minister for Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities Hon Kiwanda Godfrey Ssubi has hope that Nsenene Ku Beat, an event aimed at promoting food tourism will tremendously sell Uganda as the best tourists destination.

    Reports coming in confirm that Kiwanda will be gracing the event as the chief guest on 24th November at Hilltop Garden Naguru. There will be showcasing of new yet sumptuous recipes such as Burger, Rolex, Samosa, Bread, Pancake and Beef Nsenene.

    The entrance fee is only UGX 10k  and children enter for free.

    After scooping a huge nomination in ADASA awards, fresh yet super talented comic and Hot 100 host Collin Emeka aka the romantic mukiga, has surely come of age.

    The bubbly comedian as of late been hosting hefty events, and he has currently been unveiled as the main host for ‘Nsenene Ku Beat’, an event aimed at promoting tourism.

    The event will showcase several sumptuous Nsenene recipes like the Burger, Samosa, Rolex, Bread and Pancake Nsenene on 24th November at HillTop Garden, Naguru.

    The cover charge is only UGX10,000 (which comes with free Nsenene) and gates open at exactly 10am.

    Excitement Builds Up As Dates For Nsenene Ku Beat Are Announced

    Ruspolia differens aka katydids, locally known as ‘Nsenene’ is a Uganda delicacy that’s mostly consumed in the months of April to May and November to December.

    The lastest is that Striddle Events Africa, an events company has come up with several recipes such as Samosa Nsenene, Burger Nsenene, Pancake Nsenene, Bread Nsenene and Chapati Nsenene which will be exclusively unleashed for the ardent consumers to enjoy whilst dancing to soothing musical beats by our local talents.

    Speaking to the press, Sebulime Peter alias Demo Riley the CEO Nsenene Ku Beat, asserted that they were supposed to have this event in May this year but decided to postpone it to November so they can prepare well enough to give people a better experience.

    He added that the idea is to promote food tourism and this event thus presents a unique opportunity for Uganda’s vendors, consumers, corporate companies and tourism institutions to celebrate the country’s rich and original snack Nsenene and music culture.

    There will be activities like cooking competitions, games, live video mixing, live band, celebrity cookouts and artists performance.

    The event which will happen on Sunday 24th November at HillTop Garden, Naguru and gates will be opened at 10am till late. The cover charge is only UGX 10k and children enter for free.
