Spain Crowned Champions as Nile Special Hosts Thrilling Final Watch Party

Nile Special brought its nationwide FIFA World Cup 2026 fan experience to a memorable close with a major final watch party at King’s Park Arena in Kampala, where hundreds of football fans gathered to watch Spain defeat Argentina by one goal in extra time to lift the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The final watch party marked the last major stop in Nile Special’s tournament campaign, which moved across the country through major regional fan experiences in Jinja, Gulu, Mbarara and Kampala, alongside several smaller activations held in bars and entertainment venues across Uganda.

The campaign began with the first major watch party in Jinja on the opening match day before moving to Gulu, where fans watched Morocco defeat Canada and France edge Paraguay. It later shifted to Mbarara for the quarter-final stage, before closing in Kampala with the final between Spain and Argentina.

At King’s Park Arena, the atmosphere reflected the emotion of a World Cup final, with fans turning up to watch one of the biggest football nights of the year. The Spain versus Argentina clash kept supporters engaged until extra time, with Spain eventually finding the decisive goal to seal the title.

Beyond the match, the Kampala watch party delivered a full entertainment experience courtesy of Nile Special, with live performances from Dax Vibes, Cindy Sanyu and Fik Fameica. The performances added to the celebratory atmosphere, turning the final watch party into a blend of football, music, entertainment and shared fan celebration.

The event also carried the full Nile Special FIFA World Cup experience, including fan engagement and the ongoing “Gwe Kafulu” score predictor activations. Through the mechanic, consumers have been able to participate in the campaign by predicting match scores for a chance to win prizes, with rewards offered through Nile Special’s partnership with Hisense Uganda.

The final event also tied into Nile Breweries Limited’s “Cheers to Bars” initiative, which has been running alongside the FIFA World Cup campaign to recognise bars and entertainment venues as important social spaces where adult consumers gather to watch football, connect with friends and share major sporting moments responsibly.

Speaking to the media at the final watch party, Nile Breweries Head of Marketing, Wangechi Gitahi, said the campaign had helped Nile Special bring the FIFA World Cup closer to Ugandan fans by creating shared football experiences across different regions.

She noted that the brand set out to do more than simply screen matches, but to create spaces where fans could participate, celebrate and feel part of the tournament through watch parties, score predictions, entertainment, prizes and live performances.

“The FIFA World Cup is one of the biggest moments of connection in sport, and for Nile Special, this campaign has been about bringing that energy closer to fans here in Uganda. From Jinja to Gulu, Mbarara and now Kampala, we have seen fans turn up with passion, excitement and pride,” Gitahi said.

She added that the final watch party was a strong close to a campaign that had kept football fans engaged throughout the tournament period.

“The final at King’s Park Arena gives us a fitting end to the journey. It brings together everything the campaign has stood for; football, connection, participation, entertainment and shared celebration,” she added.

Nile Breweries Limited National Sales Director, Ifeoluwapo “Ife” Subair, said the campaign had also highlighted the role of bars and entertainment venues in Uganda’s football culture, especially during major tournaments.

According to Subair, bars continue to be important meeting points for football fans, while also supporting livelihoods, trade partners and local entertainment ecosystems.

“Throughout this campaign, bars have been at the centre of the fan experience. They are the places where people come together to watch matches, debate results, support their teams and share the emotions that come with football,” Subair said.

He added that through “Cheers to Bars,” Nile Breweries continues to recognise the contribution of bars to social life, responsible adult enjoyment and local business activity.

  • NBL: We Love Our Customers, We Are Not Increasing Beers Prices

NBL: We Love Our Customers, We Are Not Increasing Beers Prices

Nile Breweries Limited (NBL) on Thursday announced that it will not change prices of its beer despite the current negative economic pressure faced by businesses in Uganda and the world at large.

Speaking to journalists at their offices in Kampala, Nile Breweries Legal and Corporate Affairs Director Onapito Ekomoloit said although there is a negative economic pressure faced by businesses across the board, their action is deliberate to enable consumers to continue enjoying their favourite beers as they cope with the economic hardships.

“We understand the prices of most commodities, including the raw materials we use to make beer have increased across the country. However, we also understand that Ugandans still are trying to recover from the upheaval that was the covid-19 lockdown. We stand with all Ugandans during these hard times and get through them together where we can,” he said.

Mr Ekomoloit added that although the company is incurring high costs of production due to high prices in fuel and other raw materials used, they believe that the layman (end-user consumer) is also feeling much bigger pressure than them. And if they increase prices it will be unfair.

“We are a multinational company and we have enough sock absorbers to move around with the changes in the economy. For that matter, we have not increased the prices of our beer. We know we are not alone in the market but we appreciate that Ugandans are now feeling the pressure, so we the big brothers have to be on their side. Because our dream is to create a future with great cheers so we must walk the talk,” he said.

He clarified that NBL’s decision is not a guarantee that change in pricing will never happen, but it is a fair move to ensure that their consumers continue to enjoy their products as they work to get back on their feet.

“In the immediate future, our mission is to offer the best product to our consumers. We have been with them for years, we understand issues that affect them and we want to move at their pace as they go through these hardships.” He said.

Molly Horn, the Trade Marketing Manager at NBL also noted that the prices for all their products across the value chain in the entire region have remained the same.

“We need all our sellers to respect the recommended retail prices. And if you find anyone selling our beers at a higher than recommended prices or claiming that we have increased prices, please inform us through us and we shall follow up or relay your complaint through our company toll-free line, 0800-204204, or tweet, or Call centre +256312440600, or email us nile.breweries@ug.ab-inbev.com.”

According to NBL’s connections manager John Paul Semakula, by not increasing the prices of their beer in such a time does not mean that they will lower their products’ standards.

“We are going to continue supporting all the programs we have been supporting, the sports, bars, parties, etc.”
