    The race for Mawokota North MP seat is hitting up as Mr. Bugembe Abubakar has returned forms of expression of interest for the seat to the National Unity Platform (NUP) party headquarters at Makerere Kavule. He returned the forms on Friday last week.

    Abubakar is on the ground together with the team mobilizing for support as they prepare for NUP primaries in the next few weeks.

    He wants to improve service delivery in all sectors in Mawokota North and also the whole of Mpigi District.

    Many people in Mawokota North now see him as their new hope to drive development in the area.

    Mr. Bugembe Abubakar has announced that he is contesting for the Member of Parliament for Mawokota North Constituency in Mpigi District come 2026. Today we bring who he is;

    He was born in the year 1982 from a peasantry family of the late Hajji Edris Walakila and Hasifa Nalubega in Bukakala Village ward in Mpigi town council.

    He went to Kiwaawo Quran school for his primary, Kitagobwa secondary for O level in Butambala, Buwama High for A level and then he joined Kyambogo University where he attained a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education.

    He is a dedicated educator with over 15 years of experience in teaching and he says his commitment to the betterment of our community extends beyond the classroom.

    As an educator and a seasoned member of our community, he brings a unique perspective and a wealth of experience to the realm of politics. He firmly believes that his background in education has equipped him with the skills necessary to lead effectively and advocate for the needs of the constituency.

    Mawokota North Constituency in Mpigi District MP hopeful Mr. Bugembe Abubakar has revealed his vision for the area once he is elected Member of Parliament (MP) from 2026-2031.

    Mr. Bugembe Abubakar describes himself as a God fearing man and a visionary leader who wants nothing but to transform Mawokota North Constituency into a model constituency. He is a fact driven and a pragmatist.

    He plans to stablish Mawokota Education Fund for children from low income earning families at all levels from primary to university both local and international.

    On the issue of health, he wants to lobby to ensure that Mpigi Health Centre IV and Muduma Heath Centre II are elevated to hospital and health centre IV respectively. He also wants to ensure that all health facilities in the constituency are equipped with the necessary materials to full capacity.

    He wants to lobby for the tarmacking of all major roads and grading of all access roads as well as the construction of Mpigi central market to a modern standard as well as improving Muduma market and Kamengo.

    He has plans for the youth too and wants to extend support to Mpigi United FC, sports academics to nature upcoming talents, start youth empowerment centers within the constituency.

    He will also set up a team of lawyers who shall always offer free services to those facing land evictions, and also give guidance to people with starting business on tax issues to mitigate over taxation.

    Latest info reaching our desk has it that Hon. Abbey Kigozi, the LC 5 councillor, Wakiso District is set to upgrade his political status.

    After representing the people of Kyengera Town Council in the wards of Nanziga, Maya and Katereke as a direct councillor, Hon. Abbey has now set his plans on taking Mpigi District top seat.

    Hon. Abbey Kigozi is eyeing Mpigi LC 5 Chairman

    “I am going to stand as the LC 5 Chairman for Mpigi District come 2026,” he confirmed to us.

    Kigozi, 45, is a teacher by profession and he is currently a member of the HESS (Health, Education, Sports and Sanitation) committee of the district.

    He subscribes to the National Unity Platform (NUP) party.

    Mawokota North Member of Parliament (MP) Hon. Hilary Kiyaga popularly known as Dr. Hilderman has officially launched 2023 Bulungi Bwansi in his constituency.
    This was at Butoolo Health Centre in Mawokota North in Mpigi District.
    During the launch, Hon. Hilderman said some things are achievable if people kill the ‘Government Should Help Us’ syndrome.
    He called on the government to wake up and perform it’s duties.
    “Officially launched 2023 Bulungi bwansi at Butoolo health centre. We can either wait in vain for Government service delivery or prioritize to awaken the individual responsibility spirit into our people on what they can accomplish as community.
    Some things are achievable only when we kill the GOVERNMENT ETUYAMBE SYNDROME which was inculcated into our people deliberately to make them dependents on political leaders and system.
    Where leaders must pay for fuel for a road to be maintained is a clear signal that the government is non existing just like a parent who can’t take his responsibilities at home. Thanks to fellow local leaders,” Hilderman shared on his social media platforms.
