    Minister Frank Tumwebaze explains his weight loss, dismisses sickness rumours as he warns about non-communicable diseases

    The Minister of Agriculture Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) who also doubles as Kibale East County MP, Hon. Frank Tumwebaze has said he is not sick and that his weight loss is intentional to prevent himself from non communicable diseases. Posting on his social media platforms, the minister warns against the danger non communicable diseases pose to the public.

    To health educators & promoters, epidemiologists, nutritionists & all health professionals, I am really worried. And you too should be.

    Why? The battle against non- Communicable diseases is far from being won.

    The dominant but mistaken thinking that being heavy, overweight & obese= being healthy and on the other hand being slim & small-framed = being unhealthy is a serious cause for alarm. To the contrary, a lean body= a strong one Is this hard to understand?

    Weight loss can only be worrying if it’s unintentional,unexplainable, and most times due to malnutrition or an involuntary metabolic syndrome associated with underlying chronic sickness. BUT if weight loss is intentional & achieved through measures such as dieting or slimming that involve reducing one’s total body mass through calorie reduction, increased physical activity, or lifestyle changes its nothing else BUT an act to celebrate. It is one of the best health targets/outcomes every rational & disciplined person should set and aim to achieve.

    Yes, looking lean or slim may worry some that may not be used with a person’s new looks, BUT it is all ok.

    Obesity has never been a badge of honor!

    So dear friends sending me messages of “quick recovery”( and especially those of you doing so out of love, not mockery), please take heart , I am not sick. My new looks are intentional.

    Kibale East County MP and Minister for Agriculture Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF), Hon. Frank Tumwebaze has hailed First Lady Hon. Janet Museveni for initiating and leading an ambitious program of expanding school infrastructure allover the country.

    The Minister said this while presiding over the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of two seed schools ( Ntonwa and Bisozi Seed schools) under the Uganda Secondary Education Expansion Project (USEEPUg) project in his constituency, Kamwenge district.


    “I thank Hon Mama Janet Museveni for initiating and leading an ambitious program of expanding school infrastructure allover the country,” Frank Tumwebaze said.

    Kibale East County MP and NRM Flag Bearer for the same seat 2026, Hon. Frank Tumwebaze, has hailed to the people of Kamwenge District for turning up in huge numbers to cheer and support NRM Presidential candidate H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni during his campaign trail yesterday. The numbers were amazing and the whole district was Yellow.

    On the same occasion, Hon. Frank Tumwebaze was officially unveiled as NRM flag bearer for Kibale East County MP seat for 2026. He called on the people to do the same on 15th January and vote NRM in big and large numbers for continued development peace and unity.

    President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni thanked the people for the massively turning up.

    “Because of unity and a disciplined army, peace has been secured here, with several ADF attempts defeated. To strengthen this peace, we shall establish a UPDF battalion and a permanent barracks in Kamwenge,” M7 said.

    On development, he said government shall work on the Kyenjojo–Kihura and Rwimi Roads.

    “I am glad farmers here shifted from low-value maize to coffee, fruits and bananas. Mr. Julius Akorinako is a good example: he began with two acres of clonal coffee in 2019, expanded to six acres and now earns about Shs 40 million a year. This is the right path to prosperity,” he said promising more of such during his next term.

    Kibale East County in Kamwenge District Member of Parliament (MP) Hon. Frank Tumwebaze was yesterday duly nominated at Kamwenge District Electoral Commission offices to continue serving the people of Kibale East in 2026.

    Hon. Frank Tumwebaze who doubles as The Minister for Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) thanked the great people of Kibale East for the support this far and promised a continued service oriented term of office. He also thanked his wife Florence Kabibi as his who is always there for him in times of need.

    The Minister also hailed the Electoral Commission Uganda for creating a digitally enabled nomination process. He called it Truly efficient!

    “Above all, i thank God for the gift of leadership,” he concluded.

    Hon. Frank Tumwebaze who is one of the best performing MPs both on the floor of Parliament and in the Constituency will now on traversing the Constituency to mobilize for support ahead of January 2026 polls.

    The Minister of Agriculture Animal Industry and Fisheries who also doubles as the MP for Kibale East County in -Kamwenge district has continued to unleash his potential to his constituency.
    During the festive season, he has a busy schedule launching and commissioning a number of service delivery projects in the area.
    “Quite a busy and happy day for me  in the constituency as i commission a number of service delivery milestone projects.  I started with the launch of  the completed  infrastructure at Bisozi HC1V under the DRDIP Opm-Ug program in OPM,” Frank posted.
    On behalf of his community, he thanked the NRM government  under the able leadership of H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for supporting refugee hosting communities to overcome displacement impacts that come with hosting refugees.
    The Minister also launched another great service delivery milestone for his constituents of scaling up safe water coverage in Malere, Biguli subcounty supported by Water 4 People in partnership with the Ministry of Water and Environment.
    The commissioned reservoir will serve more 13 villages in the area.
    On the last day of the year 2021, Frank Tumwebaze was joined by Bisozi residents to do their end of year Community development (Burungi Bwansi) of cleaning Bisozi Health Centre IV.
    The MP said ‘burungi Bwansi’ initiative is intended to create a sense of ownership among community members for public services and also make a contribution.

    Kibale East County in Kamwenge District MP Hon. Frank Tumwebaze has promised his constituents that he will never sleep on the job. He said this after he was nominated on NRM ticket to represent Kibale East County people in Parliament 2021.

    He thanked them for the immense love, support and prayers that pushed him through NRM primaries with 82% victory. Below is his full statement;

    “To my great people of Kibale East greetings! Thank you for your immense love, support and prayers that pushed me through the NRM primaries with an uncontested landslide victory of 82%. You have yet again moved on with me on our common journey of transforming our hitherto unknown and underserved area of the greater Rwanwanja ( Now Kibale east county) and enabled me to get successfully nominated by the independent Electoral commission on Thursday 15th October at 15:19hrs.

    Thank you Thank you! My earnest pledge to you is that I will never sleep on the job. I will continue advocating for the scaling up of all the needed social services like clean water to cover all villages, electricity and modernisation of our education and health infrastructure so as to improve the service coverage gaps as well as improve on the quality of service (work with efficiency). In addition to advocating for the scaling up of these social service delivery programs, I will add on a component of skilling the youth and women entrepreneurs. Our driving principle in this will be “Skilling to learn and learning to earn”. Yes we have brought many service delivery projects to our area that we never had before like more schools, more health centres, more water schemes etc BUT we must in the coming term also now focus on improving people’s livelihoods through empowering them with vocational skills THAT enable them to better their trade so as to earn. This is the great message our Leader H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has always emphasized unceasingly. I appeal to all people of Kibale East and Kamwenge District in general and all fellow citizens to vote our great leader in the coming general elections as President. In him, we see a better tomorrow,” Frank Tumwebaze said.

    Kibale East County MP Hon. Frank Tumwebaze has fully be nominated to seek for another term in parliament.

    After his nomination, Hon. Frank who doubles as the Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development thanked his supporters and pledged to deliver more.

    He said in the next term, he wants to achieve 100% water coverage in all villages and also complete the electricity extension scheme. Below is his full statement after he was nominated;

    “Glad to announce to my constituents, nominators, seconders, supporters, friends & all well-wishers that I have been dully nominated today ( 10th August 2020) by Prof Tanga Odoi, the Chairman of NRM Electoral Commission to contest for the Kibale East County Parliamentary seat.

    I wish to thank you my constituents for the support and assurances given so far. Four years ago, our newly created constituency didn’t have good service coverage of mainly water and electricity. We now have good coverage rates of water, electricity and telecommunications. You all know that as a fact. It’s my aspirations to ensure that in the next term we achieve 100% water coverage in all villages and also complete the electricity extension schemes in the pipeline to areas not yet covered like Ntonwa, Kyakeitaba, Biguli and other areas. Other Busy commercial training centres will continue to be prioritised.

    Four years ago, we had only 2 government aided secondary schools. In this term, 2 more fully functional secondary schools ( Bwizi and Bihanga) have been added on. In fact Bwizi secondary school has been given a state of the art infrastructure worths 2.5b shillings by the NRM government. The primary schools built and added in these four years ( Damasiko, Kamusenene, New Eden, Munyuma, Mukukuru, among others) are many and more are coming for the newly created parishes/wards in the new sub countries and town councils. A Heath Centre 4 facility for our newly created county has been constructed at bisozi in addition to other Health centre 3s in Kabingo being upgraded. It will be fully equipped in this term. Togeterher, with fellow district leaders we followed up the fulfilment of a district hospital presidential pledge for Kamwenge district and Rukunyu hospital was accordingly given the requisite infrastructure, personnel, logistics and funding. I cant list and exhaust the many personal initiatives I have implemented in the constituency using support from lobby networks of friends. The people of Kibale East know these. As the Chinese say; Those who know it feel it and those who feel it know it best”.

    I wish to thank immensely H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the NRM government for all the good policy initiatives that have helped to spur growth and inclusive development. We shall all give Mzee Wakazi overwhelming support!

    Kibale East County MP who also doubles as the Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development Hon. Frank Tumwebaze has today met with Kamwenge District COVID-19 Taskforce and discussed the readiness of the district in the wake of the global pandemic.

    The minister said health workers in the district are doing a great job. He donated through the District Health Officer (DHO), to the district health workers protective gear materials worth UGX 5.5m. The protective gear materials bought from Joint Medical Stores (JMS) include boxes of; gloves, detergents, masks, aprons & gum- boots for the frontline health workers.

    “I met our Kamwenge District COVID-19 UG Taskforce today morning and we discussed the readnes of our district system and operations of our Hub at Rukunyu. The health workers are doing a great job. I donated through the District health officer (DHO), to our health workers protective gear materials worth shs 5.5m. The protective gear materials bought from Joint Medical Stores (JMS) include boxes of; gloves, detergents, masks, aprons & gum- boots for the frontline health workers. I also gave 250 litres of diseal to the emergency district health vehicles. I am happy that our pple are compliant and are taking this #COVID19UG fight seriously. Most if not all trading centres have washing facilities. Let’s pray God rewards our efforts,” Frank Tumwebaze said.

    Frank Tumwebaze gives out more 50 goats to youth in Kibale East County

    The Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development who also doubles as the MP for Kibale East County in Kamwenge district Hon. Frank Tumwebaze has continued to support the youths through goat project.

    The MP today handed 50 more goats to youth who are not in school to help earning a living. The project dubbed ‘Empano’ loosely translated ‘take a goat give a goat’ has been running for the last one year.

    “One year ago i initiated a youth support income generation project of goat rearing, dubbed ‘Empano’ (Take a goat Give a goat) for the out of school youth in the constituency starting with my immediate home neighbouring villages. The ‘Empano’ programme is a social loan. You get a goat and you return a goat after one year. I donated initially 25 goats from my farm to the first Youth Cohort of 25 farmers. Today, each returned a goat and they made 25. This means the first cohort has fully paid their loan. Today Sunday 15th March 2020, I added on to the 25 number of recovered goats (Empano returneed) another 25 to make it 50.

    It was my pleasure once again today to handover a total of 50 goats to the second cohort of 50 youth farmers from the other parishes of Kaberebere and Bihanga. If the discipline and spirit continues with this second cohort as was with the Pioneer cohort and we recover all the 50 next year we shall launch the third cohort of 100 next year in March . At that stage, we shall register our community foundation and start to fundraise for more scale up. Very impressed with the youth discipline. May God continue to bless and reward their efforts to build sustainable livelihoods for their homes,” Hon. Frank Tumwebaze said.
