  • Nxt Radio go veterans as Karitas joins Marcus on the “Morning Zoo”

Nxt Radio go veterans as Karitas joins Marcus on the “Morning Zoo”

Celebrated media personality Karitas Karisimbi, just recently embroiled in an on-air fight with co-host Ronnie McVex, was this week switched from the station’s evening drive show, “The Transit,” to the breakfast one, “The Morning Zoo” on Nxt Radio, joining the famed Marcus Kwikiriza.

Marcus has previously been co-hosting the show with Qitui, who we understand is away on maternity leave.

Karitas had been hosting “The Transit” since 2018 when Nxt Radio was launched, and despite what appeared like resolving their issues with McVex just last week, it appears that the station has now moved to give listeners what they asked for when they called for her to instead keep working on the breakfast show, which she had moved to temporarily co-host for the period of the misunderstanding.

How good of a choice this is for Nxt Radio remains to be seen, but going by the early feedback from their first shows as official co-hosts of the “Morning Zoo,” including a Friday edition done live from Mestil Hotel, Karitas and Marcus promises to be a hit.

The pair’s spontaneity and chemistry were there for all to see or hear (seeing as the station prides itself in being Uganda’s first-ever audio-visual radio station), with some online, including now former co-host Ronnie McVex, describing them as a dynamic duo.

The weekend “Nxt Top 20 Countdown” host, Anne-Marie, now joins Smart Ayokyayokya and Ronnie McVex on the “Nxt Transit.”

You can listen to Karitas and Marcus on the “Morning Zoo” every Monday to Friday, 6am to 10am on 106.1FM or on StarTimes Channel 234. You can also stream them LIVE via the Nxt Radio app or through nextradio.co.ug/live.

Exclusive: Karitas buries hatchet with co-host McVex, returns to her “Nxt Transit” show

Seasoned media personality, Karitas Karismbi, has finally buried her hatchet with workmate and co-host Ronnie Mc Vex, and the two are now back together on their drive show, ‘The Transit.’

In case you missed it, on Friday 5th June, a clip went viral online showing the two presenters in disagreement over whether someone should be called ugly or not. The exchange saw Karitas storm out of the studio live on air, subsequently posting on her social media moments later demanding an apology.

That next Monday, Karitas interestingly instead joined boss, Marcus Kwikiriza to co-host their breakfast show, “Nxt Morning Zoo,” in place of the on-leave Qitui, rather than her usual show. There, she explained that she wasn’t offended by what Ronnie said about her hair but that rather, she found it disturbing that a person would want to call another human being ugly, also questioning why Ronnie used the “mizigo women” as a yardstick for bad hair, pointers that a sizeable number of those that called in to the show seemed to agree with.

Ronnie McVex was then on Thursday last week also accorded a similar platform to share his side of the story, now hosted by Marcus and Karitas. Ronnie explained that his intention was not to offend Karitas, going on to apologize to her, as well as the listeners of Nxt Radio. He also thanked Marcus, who also doubles as the General Manager of the station, for not sacking either or both of them but coming up with a solution to their issues.

Karitas has since returned to the “Nxt Transit”, a show she co-hosts with comics Ronnie McVex and Smart Ayokyayokya. The show airs weekdays 3-7pm. Karitas also hosts “The Chatroom” on NBS TV every Sunday from 8-9pm.

NXT Radio’s Karitas Karisimbi into charity as the station makes one year

NXT Radio’s ‘The Transit’ co-host, Karitas Karisimbi, one of Uganda’s all-time top radio personalities, last weekend took time off to go visit Nalongo Mariam in Kasawo, Mukono district, a mother of 38 that also lost 4 others.

A Nalongo (mother of twins) herself, Karitas says the trip was essential for her children, whom she carried along for the charity trip.

“My sons needed to see what else could be a possibility in life,” Karitas told us.

Karitas and colleagues at 106.1 FM NXT Radio will on Friday 18th October 2019 celebrate Uganda’s first audio-visual radio station making one year in a party set to be hosted at Gabz Lounge, Bugolobi, with listeners of the station currently calling in to win tickets.

The station, also available on StarTimes Channel 243, has advertised that they will celebrate the milestone for 6 months, with parties such as that this Friday, concerts, goodies and cash all set to be part of the activities.

Congratulations to the fastest growing English radio station upon making 1 year in such a competitive market.
