“Our customers have continued to trust us to paint their homes, businesses, schools and other spaces. That support is the reason we continue to grow, innovate and invest in Uganda. Our commitment goes beyond selling quality paint, and through Paint and Win, we have an opportunity to reward our customers while contributing to the communities in which we operate,” said Kansai Plascon Uganda Managing Director, Mr Santosh Gumte.

The company will also engage customers through its dealer network across the country, supported by incentives for dealers and partners.

“Our dealers are our frontline ambassadors because they interact directly with our customers, and their support is crucial to the success of Paint and Win. We have scheduled engagements across the country through our dealer network to encourage participation. Whether you have participated before or are joining us for the first time, we look forward to having you with us and hopefully welcoming you to the draw as one of our winners,” said Kansai Plascon Uganda Head of Sales, Mr Moses Kato.

  • Kampala Auto Show 2026 Boosts Automotive Business, Innovation and Industry Linkages

The 2026 Kampala Auto Show concluded on Sunday, July 19, at the Kololo Independence Grounds after three days of vehicle showcases, motorsport entertainment, automotive business engagements and family-friendly experiences.

The event, which ran from July 17 to 19, brought together car dealers, mechanics, motorsport drivers, insurance providers, asset-financing institutions, car enthusiasts and families under one platform, further cementing its place as one of Uganda’s leading motoring and lifestyle events.

Now in its 5th edition, the Kampala Auto Show has continued to grow as a major automotive marketplace and lifestyle platform, combining commerce, entertainment, education and sport. This year’s edition featured vehicle exhibitions, electric vehicles, vintage and custom cars, live drifting, drag racing, stunt performances, maintenance workshops, product showcases and public engagements from different players across the automotive value chain.

Kansai Plascon Uganda participated as a co-sponsor of the Auto Show for the third consecutive year, using the platform to showcase its automotive paint solutions alongside other paint products available on the Ugandan market.

At the Plascon exhibition booth, visitors interacted with the company’s range of auto car paints and related products designed for vehicle finishing, repair, refurbishment and maintenance. The showcase gave motorists, mechanics, spray painters, car owners and motoring enthusiasts an opportunity to learn more about professional paint application, vehicle body finishing, paint care and the importance of using genuine automotive paint products.

Speaking during the Auto Show, Daniel Kayongo, the Head of Marketing at Kansai Plascon Uganda, said the company’s continued participation reflects its commitment to supporting Uganda’s growing automotive sector and creating awareness around Plascon’s wider product portfolio.

“The Kampala Auto Show gives us a strong opportunity to engage directly with motorists, mechanics, spray painters, car owners and car enthusiasts. Many people know Plascon for decorative and architectural paints, but we also have strong automotive paint solutions that support vehicle finishing, repair and refurbishment. Our participation here is about education, product experience and supporting the wider automotive industry,” Kayongo said.

Plascon’s presence at the Auto Show also helped broaden public understanding of the brand beyond architectural paints. Through product exhibitions and direct engagement with visitors, the company highlighted its role in the automotive space, particularly in vehicle refinishing, body repair, professional spraying and long-term vehicle protection.

Beyond the Plascon showcase, the three-day Auto Show delivered a strong sports and lifestyle experience for attendees, with crowds treated to drifting, drag racing, stunt performances, custom car displays, vintage models, electric vehicle showcases, family activities and entertainment. Drivers, car owners and motoring enthusiasts also used the platform to share their passion for cars, performance, modification, restoration and Uganda’s growing car culture.

The event also created space for broader conversations around safer and better-maintained vehicles, with exhibitors engaging the public on vehicle care, financing options, insurance, spare parts, servicing and general automotive maintenance.

For Plascon, the 2026 Kampala Auto Show provided a practical platform to demonstrate that automotive paint plays an important role not only in vehicle appearance, but also in protection, durability, refurbishment and long-term vehicle value. The company used the event to educate consumers on the importance of choosing genuine automotive paint products and working with trained applicators to achieve quality finishing.

  • Kololo Independence Grounds Alive with Music, Dance, and a Mission to Save Young Hearts

Kololo Independence Grounds Alive with Music, Dance, and a Mission to Save Young Hearts

The Kololo Independence Grounds were covered with colour, music, and joy on Saturday 9th August 2025 as thousands gathered for the annual India Day celebrations. Organised by the Indian Association Uganda in partnership with the Sindhi Community Uganda, this year’s event carried a deeper purpose — to help fund lifesaving heart surgeries for more than 100 Ugandan children suffering from congenital heart defects.

The grounds filled steadily from late afternoon, with families, dignitaries, and members of both the Ugandan and Indian communities mingling in anticipation. The air was alive with the aroma of Indian street food, the shimmer of colourful saris, and the sound of traditional drums. As the stage lit up, the crowd was treated to amazing performances from traditional Indian dance troupes, each set telling a story of heritage and unity, drawing applause and cheers from the audience. The music, movement, and energy set the tone for an evening that was as much about cultural pride as it was about compassion.

In a press event held at Jain Samaj Temple at Naguru, Kampala on Monday 4th August ahead of the india day celebrations, Mr. Santosh Gumte, Managing Director of Kansai Plascon Uganda, the main sponsor of the cause spoke with deep emotion, he shared why Plascon had stepped forward in such a significant way and also re-echoed this at the India day event at Kololo

“Each year in Uganda, 8,300 children are born with congenital heart defects. Two thousand of those cases require immediate intervention, and many of those children come from families who cannot even dream of affording such care. Without timely help, their lives are tragically cut short. I see those numbers, and I don’t just see statistics — I see potential scientists, lawyers, engineers, doctors, and leaders. We cannot stand by and let that potential fade away. This is why Kansai Plascon is contributing UGX 300 million to this cause.”

“We believe that corporate success must be measured not only by profit but also by the difference we make in the lives of the people around us. Our paint brings colour to homes, but our partnerships and community work bring hope to hearts. These children, together with their caretakers, will be travelling to India to get the surgeries they need, thanks to the generosity of so many partners and well-wishers. We are humbled to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Indian Association and Sindhi Community Uganda, and we call upon more organisations and individuals to join us so that together we can give every child the chance to grow, learn, and live to their fullest,” he added.

Mr. Paresh R. Mehta, Acting Chairman of the Indian Association Uganda, also at the press event earlier in the week, spoke warmly about the journey that brought the event to this point. His words reflected both gratitude and pride.

“When we began planning this year’s India Day, we knew it could not just be another celebration. We wanted it to be a celebration with a heartbeat, a celebration that would change lives. We identified more than one hundred children who needed urgent cardiac intervention, and we decided that this year’s proceeds must go towards giving them a new lease on life. Today, as we stand here, we are preparing to send the first batch of fifty children for surgery in India. Everything, from their medical care to their travel, will be fully covered. These families will not have to worry about a single shilling.”

He continued with an acknowledgement of the partnerships that made it possible.

“We could never have done this without the unwavering support of our partners. Kansai Plascon Uganda came forward as the main sponsor, Airtel Uganda, Uganda Airlines, the Rotary Clubs, the Healthy Heart Foundation, Namar Heart Hospital in Chennai, Ruparelia Group, Mount Meru Millers, and so many others have joined hands with us. This is the true spirit of UBUNTU. When a community comes together like this, there is no problem too great to overcome.”

The keynote address at the celebrations at Kololo was delivered by Hon. Gen. Katumba Wamala, Minister of Works and Transport, who praised the Indian community and the event’s corporate partners for their commitment to Uganda’s development.

“This evening is a powerful reminder of what partnership can achieve. The government of Uganda recognises and appreciates the immense contributions of the Indian community to our economy, our culture, and our social programmes. From trade and investment to philanthropy and medical support, you have stood with Uganda in so many ways. Tonight’s cause is deeply aligned with our own national goals, which are, improving access to healthcare, reducing preventable deaths, and ensuring that every child, no matter their background, has a fair chance at life. This is why we in government are working to strengthen our health infrastructure, to support local hospitals, and to create more avenues for public-private partnerships in the health sector. But as we can see from tonight, it is when we combine our efforts, government, corporate, and community, that we can move mountains. On behalf of the government and the people of Uganda, I thank you for this gift of life you are giving to our children.”

H.E. Upender Singh Rawat, Indian High Commissioner to Uganda, marked his third India Day in the country by reflecting on the event’s deeper significance.

“India Day is about more than commemorating India’s independence. It is a day to celebrate the friendship between India and Uganda, a bond that is rooted not just in trade and history but in shared values of compassion and solidarity. I am proud to see our communities come together to bridge borders for the sake of children’s health, and I commend all the organisers and sponsors for making this vision a reality.”

As the speeches concluded, the night shifted back to celebration. A breathtaking ten-minute fireworks display lit up the Kampala sky, reflected in the stunned faces of children and families gathered below. The entertainment reached its peak with the first major performance by Anjana Padmanabhan, Indian Idol Season 14 finalist, whose powerful voice drew rounds of applause. The final act was delivered by Punjabi pop superstar Guru Randhawa, who had the crowd dancing and singing along to his famous hits, closing the night on a high and joyful note.

Indian association delegations from Jinja, Lira, Mbale, and even Burundi had travelled to attend, alongside prominent Ugandan personalities, ministers, business leaders, and representatives of partner organisations. Awards were also given out to outstanding individuals and companies that have championed blood donation and medical aid in Uganda.

  • Exploring Industry to Industry engagement, NWSC SSD team visit to Kansai Plascon Uganda

Exploring Industry to Industry engagement, NWSC SSD team visit to Kansai Plascon Uganda

The industry-to-industry inspection conducted by the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) at Kansai Plascon Uganda is an excellent example of proactive customer and stakeholder engagement.

This visit served several important purposes and highlighted key takeaways as clearly stipulated below.

    Environmental Protection
Both NWSC and Kansai Plascon share a common goal of ensuring environmental protection. NWSC is concerned about receiving harmful discharge from its clients, which could negatively impact its treatment processes and, subsequently, Lake Victoria’s ecosystem. The visit emphasized the commitment of NWSC to assist Kansai Plascon in improving wastewater management and adopting cleaner production techniques to protect the environment.

    Technical Assistance
NWSC expressed its willingness to provide technical assistance to Kansai Plascon. This support includes suggesting improvements in wastewater management practices. This collaborative approach not only benefits the environment but can also result in cost savings for Kansai Plascon.

    Understanding Client Operations.
The visit involved a tour of Kansai Plascon’s production process, allowing NWSC representatives to gain insights into the client’s operations. This understanding is crucial for identifying potential areas of concern or improvement related to wastewater generation and treatment.

    Effluent Treatment Process
NWSC learned about Kansai Plascon’s effluent treatment process, which involves coagulation/precipitation with pH correction using caustic soda and the use of aluminum sulfate to separate solids from liquids. The treated effluent is then discharged into NWSC sewers for further treatment.

    Reduced Production at 2nd Street
It was noted that Kansai Plascon has shifted much of its paint production to the Namanve Industrial Park, resulting in reduced wastewater generation at the 2nd Street site. Understanding such operational changes is essential for effective management.

    Collaboration and Partnerships
The visit aimed to foster dialogue, collaboration, and lasting partnerships between NWSC and Kansai Plascon. Building strong relationships with industrial clients can lead to more effective wastewater management and environmental protection efforts.

In summary, the industry-to-industry inspection at Kansai Plascon Uganda demonstrates NWSC’s dedication to customer and stakeholder engagement, environmental protection, and collaborative efforts to improve wastewater management. It sets a positive example of how utilities can work closely with industrial clients to achieve shared sustainability goals.

In attendance from the NWSC-SSD were the Senior Manger Sewerage Services, Principal Quality Control Officer, Principal Sewer Networks Engineer, Principal Finance and Administration Officer, Sanitation Engineer, Occupational Health and Safety Officer, Quality Control Officer, and an assistant Accounts Officer.

  • Masjid Mbogo In Kawempe Receives Paint Donation From Paints Giant, Kansai Plascon

Masjid Mbogo In Kawempe Receives Paint Donation From Paints Giant, Kansai Plascon

Uganda’s oldest mosque, Masjid Mbogo has received a paint donation from paints giant, Kansai Plascon.

The paint donation was handed over to Muslim leaders by Plascon managing director Santosh Gumte on Friday afternoon at an event held at the mosque’s construction site in Kawempe, Kampala.

“Masjid Mbogo is a very big landmark in the Islamic faith in Uganda. As a company, we thought it right to join hands with the Muslim community in the preservation of the heritage that this historical mosque holds,” Gumte said.

“We stand in partnership with you by making this humble contribution because we understand the value attached to this mosque which was built in memory of Prince Nuhu Kyabasinga Mbogo, a key leader of the Muslim faith in Uganda,” he added.

Constructed in 1903, the historical mosque located at Kawempe Muslim primary school had been dilapidated which prompted management to start construction of a new one.

The previous mosque was able to handle a capacity of 400 faithfuls, but it had become too small for the ever-growing masses that flock the place for Juma prayers every Friday.

According to management, the redeveloped mosque is hoped to hold a capacity of about 1,700 people. Plascon’s donation is one of the many interventions that the paint company has undertaken to assist religious establishments in the country.

Plascon’s contribution to Masjid Mbogo Mosque is not the first time the company has supported community development projects in Uganda.

Over the past 10 years, several establishments including schools, churches, orphanage homes, hospitals and community-based organizations have benefited from the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR).

Earlier this month, the company donated Shs 20 million to the Anglican Church of Uganda to help them towards the repayment of the debt it incurred towards the construction of Church House.

The Holi Festival which was held at the Arya Samaj Grounds, Kololo was the first major Indian community event since the lockdown was lifted.

The Holi Festival originated to celebrate good harvests and fertility. It heralds the onset of spring through a riotous celebration of color.

The festival is all about fun, frolic, vibrant and beautiful colors that celebrate the victory of good over evil.

It welcomes all walks of life from age, race, or economic differences by greeting the revelers with gulal, colored powder mixed with water which the revelers shower upon each other.
