    Neon Rave shines the Tusker Lite ray in Hoima

    Hoima was a beehive of fun as locals abandoned their oil drills to rave up with Tusker Lite at the vibrantly neon-themed Neon Rave party held at kolping Hotel.

    Swangz Avenue’s Vinka, the main act of the night served the revellers an Overdose of Malaika, Chips n Ketchup and their night’s favourite; Sure as well as Amaaso, her collaboration with Winnie Nwagi. Also known as the Boss Man artiste, Vinka put up an epic performance leaving the crowds yearning for more.

    The revellers were also entertained by Party Pipo, a dancegroup that hyped up the crowd and kept them on their toeswith their unique mesmerizing dance moves.

    Aside from the fun games like fifa, the neon face paint the revellers also enjoyed the silent 3D cinema.

    Hoima is the sixth town the Tusker Lite Neon Rave party has lit up after Jinja, Mbarara, Fort portal, Mbale and Gulu.

    Absa Bank Uganda Refurbishes and Expands Branches in Hoima, Masindi and Arua

    Absa Bank Uganda, a subsidiary of Absa Group Limited, opened of their refurbished branches in Arua, Masindi and Hoima. The branches were opened in ceremonies that were held at the respective premises that featured traditional entertainment for the invited guests who included religious leaders, district officials and customers that includedbusinesspeople and organisations.

    Nazim Mahmood, Managing Director of Absa Bank Uganda, said the branches were significant to the bank’s strategy of providing high quality financial services to Ugandans.

    “We are investing in providing our customers with greater accessibility and convenience as they do their banking in modern facilities,” said Mahmood.

    Mahmood added that the need for growth has been advised by the economic growth of the country which demands that provision of financial services is scaled up. The company, which has been operating in Uganda for close 92 years, reiterated its commitment to the country’s growth and economic development under the Absa brand.

    “Uganda’s economy is growing at an annual rate of 6%. There is also a significant investment being made in infrastructure which has contributed to the development of suburbs and towns. Arua, Masindi and Hoima are centres of trade with a lot of economic activity going on and we are pleased to be opening these branches to show our ability to not only grow with the town and its people, but with Uganda,” said Mahmood.

    Speaking at the official opening ceremony, the Mayor of Masindi, His Worship Joab Busingye was grateful for the bank’s scaling up its operations in the area and noted with the ongoing construction of the Hoima-Masindi Highway, Masindi would grow with Absa Bank.

    The branch will ensure better access to formal financial services especially for the unbanked, ensuring greater financial inclusion. The town will also benefit financially through payment of local taxes and permits as well as rental fees which have resulted in income generation for real estate owners as well as increased tax remittances to the national treasury as a result of growth in revenue.

    The Hoima Kabalega Rally Fiesta’ starts on Friday 18th. Team Omunyeeto together with other rally drivers will host a mega pre Kabalega Rally ‘Greet and Meet’ Party at Runaway Lounge in Hoima.

    M7 lauds Hoima & Kaabong People for electing NRM candidates

    President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who also doubles as the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party chairman has applauded people of Hoima and Kaabong districts for voting NRM candidates in yesterday’s by elections to elect their districts  women MPs.
    Hon. Harriet Businge Mugenyi, NRM flag bearer won in Hoima while Tubo Nakwang Christine also NRM flag bearer won in  Kaabong district. In the aftermath of victories, the President had this to say as he congratulated the candidates;
    “The people of Hoima, mwebale muno, thank you for voting the National Resistance Movement, and my daughter Harriet Mugenyi. You have chosen to consolidate the NRM achievements, by voting a pro-development MP.
    Our people of Kaabong, Alakara nooi, you have shown that even with the lies from the Opposition, you know where the light is. I congratulate My daughter Tubo Christine Nakwang for winning the woman MP by-election.
    I also congratulate the NRM structures in the two districts for doing a good job and delivering these victories. The NRM is stronger than ever and its vision is correct,” M7 said.

    NRM candidates win by elections in Hoima & Kaabong Districts

    National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party flag bearers have swept victories in yesterday’s by elections in Hoima and Kaabong Districts. 
    In Hoima District Woman MP seat, Harriet Businge Mugenyi has been declared winner after pulling 33, 301 votes against Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) candidate Nakato Asanansi who scored 28,789 votes. Having obtained the largest number of votes, Harriet was declared winner by Matsiko Douglas, the Returning Officer Hoima District.
    In related development another NRM candidate in Kaabong comfortably defeated her FDC rival.

    Tubo Nakwang Christine was declared winner by Returning Officer Kaabong District, Ogwang Julius Ongom after she attained largest numbers of votes.

    Christine obtained 22, 532 votes while FDC’s Adyaka Judith Ongom obtained 1, 692 votes.
    These latest victories favour NRM party ahead of 2021 general elections.

    Updates on Parliamentary and Local Government Councils By-elections and Elections in Kaabong District, 2019

    All is set for voting to elect the District Woman Representative to Parliament for Kaabong District today, Thursday, 26th September 2019.

    Two (02) candidates are contesting for the position of District Woman Representative to Parliament, namely, Adyaka Judith Nalibe (FDC) and Tubo Christine Nakwang (NRM).

    Voters will also elect chairpersons and councillors to fill vacancies existing in various Local Government Councils in Kaabong District.

    The dispatch of the polling kits to respective polling stations commenced at 4:00am.

    Voting shall be by universal adult suffrage, and shall take place at all the one hundred and thirty (130) polling stations in the District, beginning at 7:00am and ending at 4:00pm.

    Thereafter, counting of votes and announcing of results by the respective Presiding Officer shall take place.

    A total number of forty thousand two hundred and forty eight (40,248) voters were registered for this by-election.

    The vacancy of the District Woman Representative to Parliament for Kaabong District occurred on 1st July 2019, following the preference and decision by the former Woman Representative for Kaabong to represent the newly-created district Karenga, which was curved out of Kaabong.

    In related development, the by elections for Hoima District Woman MP also takes place today.

    Meet Businge Harriet Mugenyi, the woman vying for Hoima District Woman MP seat

    Harriet Businge Mugenyi Akiiki is among the candidates contest for the by elections of Hoima District Woman MP seat 2019 -2021.

    Businge is the former Minister for Education and Sports Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom. Those who know well have described her a Kind-hearted, generous and humble Strong and hardworking woman.

    She is also the brain behind the CNOOC Bunyoro Amasaza Cup Tournament in Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom.

    Over the years, She has been very instrumental in promoting Girl Child Education, attracting Investors to Bunyoro and Promoting Bunyoro affairs both nationally and Internationally.

    She is one of the few brave Banyoro who have advocated and lobbied for Bunyoro Affairs from the Government and also supports reparations of Banyoro for Land Losses and deaths caused by British Colonialists with the support of Buganda Invaders commanded by KANGAHO KIBIRANGO who Kabalega’s Abarusura Defeated and killed.

    In related development, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni today started a two campaign visit to Hoima district to lobby for support for Businge in the forthcoming elections.

    President Yoweri Museveni, who is also NRM National Chairperson, today began a two-day by-election campaign canvasing votes for the NRM flag bearer for Hoima District Woman Member of Parliament Businge Harriet Mugenyi Akiiki and called upon the electorate to vote for the NRM candidate to reciprocate government’s socio-economic and political achievements made in the area.

    “Roads have been constructed to connect Bunyoro Sub-Region to other parts of the country. Electricity has been connected to 10 Sub-Counties of Hoima district except Kyabigambire County, which will soon be connected also; education and health sectors have been fully supported,” he said.

    He also added that government is building Kabaale International Airport with a five-kilometre run-way in Bunyoro and said that it is an equivalent of Entebbe Airport.

    “The government has managed to record its achievements because it focused first on national economic recovery. Secondly, the restoration of peace and stability, and general infrastructure in the country”, he said.

    Businge Harriet is tussling out for the Hoima District Woman Seat with the opposition contender, Asinansi Nyakato, of FDC.

    Hoima District Woman MP seat fell vacant after its former Woman MP, Tophace Kaahwa Byagira, decided to move to represent the newly created District of Kikuube as Woman MP.

    Addressing rally at Kabaale Public Primary School in Kabaale Sub-County in Bugahya County today in the afternoon, the President reaffirmed to the people of the area that other developments, such as the discovery of oil deposits in Bunyoro Sub-Region, is attributed to the peaceful environment and NRM’s zeal for national development.

    He said that Uganda is hosting a refugee influx from the neighbouring countries because of a peaceful political atmosphere that was ushered in by the NRM. He, therefore, urged the people of Uganda to guard peace jealously.

    He used the occasion to assure tobacco farmers in the Bunyoto Sub-Region that Government is going to compensate them following the loss they incurred after selling their tobacco produce, worth Shs.36 billion, to a Kenyan Company called Continental that had collapsed.

    He thanked the people of Bunyoro Sub-Region for voting NRM in every election in the past. He advised them to vote the NRM flag bearer, Businge Harriet Mugenyi, to represent Hoima District in Parliament as Woman MP come Thursday 26th September 2019. He further commended NRM women contenders who had been in the race together with Businge Harriet Mugenyi for stepping down in her favour to foster and consolidate NRM’s support in the race for the District MP slot. As he travelled in the area, he also made a stop at Buseruka Trading Centre and thanked residents for being economically focused.

    The NRM Vice Chairperson for Western Region, Matayo Kyaligonza commended President Museveni for ably steering the country’s politics saying this has garnered more strength to the Movement.

    Later, President Museveni addressed another campaign rally at Kigorobya Muslim Primary School in Kigorobya County.
