    Kampala:  After weeks of grueling fun footballing action, the Guinness Night Football series came to a stunning end last weekend at the UMA Exhibition Hall in Lugogo.

    The action–packed night was a battle of supremacy as a total of fourteen teams from three regions took to the ball for a chance to win the championship.

    The night featured games like human foosball, 5-Aside football

    Teams like El Tangia and Super 7 that qualified from the eastern town of Mbale where put to test by teams from the western town of Fort Portal who were well represented by UPU students battle team 13 in an epic penalty shootout–that saw team 13 come out victor and the overall winner of the series with a narrow 2-1 victory.

    Team Super 7 were the winners of the Guinness Human Foosball 2019 that saw them  that saw their teammate Kassa Ahmade win himself a fully expense paid trip to Lagos Nigeria where he will get the chance to play in the Guinness 5-Aside Pan African football extravaganza and get a chance to rub shoulders with Manchester Legend Rio Ferdinand.

    Speaking to journalists during the event, UBL’s Cathy Twesigye couldn’t hide how excited she was at how the series had turned out.

    “I cannot tell you how overjoyed I am at the moment. I believe that no one understands football like we do because at Guinness we understand the nation’s passion for the beautiful game of football. We are always looking for ways to celebrate and unite the passionate football fans.  This has been an amazing experience. Our consumers came out and showed the whole world that they are truly made of more!,” said Twesigye.

    The team 13 walked away with a cash prize of UGX 700,000 with the best player Newvisions Solomon Muleyi winning himself a fully paid expense trip to Nigeria to meet Manchester Legend Rio Ferdinand in a Pan–African football extravaganza slated to take place later this month.


    The
    night climaxed with performances from Uganda’s very own Cindy and Big Trill who together with DJ ciza threw a riveting performance hyping up the merry making.

    Guinness Night Football heads to Mbale on Saturday

    After a stunning start to the regional tours series last week the much anticipated Guinness Night Foot ball series will this Saturday be headed to the eastern town of Mbale.

    ortal earlier last month saw residents of the hilly town take part in the highly anticipated fan football event which saw UPU stars come out victorious and set to go head to head at the finale that is set for Kampala this December.


    The stars will be coming
    up against whoever wins in Mbale this weekend with many teams already gearing up for the event that is slated to take place this Saturday November 23 at the Thatch gardens in Mbale Town.

    The event will also see town folk take part in various football activities like 5-Aside football, Table foosball, Human foosball and local skill challenges like “Mirundi” and “Kagere”

    Winners will automatically earn themselves a spot in the Grand finale that is slated to take place in Kampala with best of the best to be selected for a Pan-African football extravaganza set to take place in one of the biggest football cities on the continent.

    Fort Portal: Kick off time in Fort portal was nothing short of entertaining as football enthusiasts flocked  the Pavilion Bar and Grill parking for the first ever Guinness Night Football extravaganza that took place last night (Saturday).

    The neon–themed night saw fans indulge in their passions for football engaging in a cocktail of fun football activities like 5- Aside football, Table Foosball, Human Foosball with the highlight of the night being the local skill challenges of “Mirundi”,“Kagere” and incredible head games all played in neon themed UV lighting technology.

    The night saw town folk bring out their competitive sides with teams such as ‘Pavillion’,’ Hits’, ‘desert’, ‘team no sleep’, ‘UPU stars’, ‘the preacher’s’, team Abasadii, st George A and B among others. With team UPU coming out victor after going head to head with team ‘Abasaddii’ in an action packed football show down that saw team UPU stars coming out victor with a 5-4v win against their counterparts hence sealing their place in the finals that will take place in Kampala later in December.


    Speaking to
    journalists during the games UBL’s Cathy Twesigye expressed her excitement about how the games have so far turned out.

    “Like I’ve said before, this is football ‘the Guinness Way.’ we are bringing the fun and the party to the game. I cannot tell you how proud I am that our fans are coming out and showing that they are made of more, it’s going to be parteh after parteh here after” said Cathy Twesigye,Guinness Brand Manager.

    The Night featured show stopping performance from the ‘king herself’ Cindy who jumped on stage with her famous hit song “Selector” but it was her 2009 hit song “Ayokyayokya” that got the crowd wild and on their feet.


    It was later
    closed with a riveting performance from Fik Fameica who together with DJ CIZA’s mixes turned the heat up for the revelers who got on their feet dancing the night away to songs like “Gwa Bisobola”, “Tubikole”, “Omu Bwati”, “Boom Party” his collaboration with Nigeria’s Patoranking among others.


    The series will be
    traversing the country whilst taking fun and action–packed night experiences coupled with unexpected and fun football activities that will give players and fans a chance to get involved in an extraordinary experience with the games moving to the eastern town of Mbale next month.

    Guinness Night Football series set for Fort Portal

    The Guinness Night Football countrywide series is set to hit to the Western town of Fort Portal this weekend on Saturday.

    The series that held its opening round at the Forest Mall parking in Kampala last week was nothing short of fun sporting action as teams took to the field in a‘cocktail’ of competitive activities.


    Among the
    32 teams that participated only eight made it to the finals that will be played later on in December. These teams include; C Club, Naguru United, Sound Boyz, team 13,socceroos,Mpala AFC, Sona, Jabulani and winners FC.


    However, this weekend the fun battle awaits the people of Fort Portal and the nearby districts sine competition is committed to traversing the entire country. The event will be held at the Pavilion Bar & Grill parking lot with over 20 teams confirmed for the day.

    Just like in Kampala, Fort Portal will also get its eight crème dela crème teams to compete for positions in the finale that is slated to take place later this year in December. After Fort Portal the heat will then turn to the Eastern town of Mbale.

    Forest Mall Lugogo: Guinness Uganda went all out on Saturday night as they introduced Uganda to the first ever Guinness Night football experience that took place at the Forest Mall Parking in Lugogo.

    The night saw revelers indulge in their passion for football, creating teams and going all out to win prizes in a range of football activities played out in the dark andenhanced by colorful neon UV and lighting technology to make the experience vibrant, immersive and memorable.

    The night included activities like Five A-side football, Table Foosball, skills challenges like “Mirundi” and Head games but it was the human foosball that drew out the revelers competitive sides drawing in the fun throughoutthe night with eight teams qualifying for the finals that will be held in Kampala on December 7,2019.

    The teams that qualified and are now a step closer to heading to Nigria include C-Club, Naguru United, Sona, Sound boys, soccer rooz, Team 13, Mpala AFC, Jabulaniand Winner FC.

    “Guinness Night Football is not your everyday football;we are bringing the party and the fun to the game of football and tonight has been a testament that we are made of more, creating football with a Guinness touch. It has been an amazing night all I can say is look out for our next stop, it’s going to be huge,” said Cathy Twesigye Guinness Brand Manager, Uganda Breweries Limited.

    The event also featured entertainment from Bebe Coolwho together with the mixes from DJ Ciza threw a riveting performance that got revelers and onto their feetand on the dance floor. He performed songs like wire wire, Nkuliyo that got revelers dancing the night away in the drizzles.

    Designed out of conventional football, the series will take revelers and football fans on an action-packed night experience that will be traversing the country in unexpected and fun football activities that will give players and fans a chance to get involved in an extraordinary experience with the games moving to Fortportal next month.

    The launch saw Journalists and media personalities go head to head in a series of fan football activities that will be leading way throughout the series. The highlight of the launch was the human foosball that saw four teams faceoff in a fun unexpected twist.

    Teams like “Abanonya”, “Parteh after parteh”, “Abanyivu” and “Kenzo” are the teams that graced the field of play. With “Parteh after Parteh” coming out victor in a 5-2 win against “Abanonya” in a riveting final match.

    The series of events will kick-off on Saturday 26th October at Lugogo Mall and then head to Fort Portal, Mbale and back to Kampala for the finale.

    Participants will get a chance to win amazing prizes, meet celebrities and even be a part of an epic Pan African football extravaganza that will include a five a side football match, football skills showcase and much more.

    The Pan African football extravaganza at the heart of the campaign, will take place later this year Lagos Nigeria.
