Opinion: Hon. Nambozo Florence, You Are Not Going to Tiptoe Your Way Into a Compliment

By Silent Observer in Sironko Politics

Let’s get one thing straight: not every microphone is a stage, and not every title is a legacy. So, before the media  rushes to hang medals around Hon. Florence Nambozo’s neck, perhaps they should take a walk through the dusty paths of Sironko and ask the people themselves.

Hon. Nambozo, you don’t get to wrap failure in ribbon and call it success. Not this time.

First of all, if you’re looking for someone to blame for your underwhelming decade in office, leave NRM out of it. Stop dragging the party through your own leadership lapses. NRM is not a bulletproof vest for failed service delivery. Own your record. Sironko isn’t a battleground; it’s a peaceful district until you open your mouth and start yelling “division” where none exists.

Speaking of division, you are its founding mother in Sironko. Let’s talk about that shameful day in church. Yes, we remember. You turned a pulpit into a political pulldown platform, publicly accusing the chairperson of Christians of hypocrisy simply because he didn’t support you. The congregation walked out in protest. That wasn’t strength. That was spiritual vandalism.

    Hon. Florence Nambozo Wamala

Now let’s dissect your “development efforts.” You proudly speak of distributing books to school children. Reality check: you handed out outdated 32-page exercise books that schools no longer accept. These are the very books now used to record medical symptoms in rural health centres. So no, Madam, that’s not education reform. That’s dumping leftover stationery. That is mere political posturing and mockery, not well intended support to the education of the children of Sironko.

When it comes to government pledges in honour of fallen heroes, please sit this one out. The real credit belongs to the fallen heroes, their families, the communities, the patriotic leaders who lobbied tirelessly and the honest President who never disappoints on his word – the presidential pledge. Where were you? Not in parliament. Not at district NRM events. Not during presidential visits. In ten years, your voice in Parliament has been softer than a whisper in a hurricane. You don’t get to show up at the finish line and lay claim to the trophy.

And now, the ambulance debacle. The media paints you as a health champion. But the truth? The ambulance came from Mama Hon. Rebecca Kadaga’s national initiative, you were simply a name on the distribution list. You never serviced it.  Worse still, after losing the NRM primaries in 2020, you spitefully took the ambulance back. That wasn’t just political defeat. It was a moral one.

Let’s talk ICT labs. What labs? Please stop hallucinating development. There is not a single known ICT lab initiated by you in Sironko. If you were referring to Karamoja, kindly relocate there and make your speeches match your geography.

Finally, on roads, yes, you’re chair of the Sironko Roads Committee. But your leadership has been a pothole in itself. You drained road funds on unnecessary “planning meetings” that were more about catering for your allowances than construction or rehabilitation of the district road network. The Namagumba–Budadiri–Nalugugu road project suffered under your watch, as our people’s properties affected by the project were undervalued, compensation of project affected persons has stalled, you intermeddled in the project course, making the project to start from its tail end Nalugugu when the project is clearly marked Namagumba – Budadiri – Nalugugu. Besides, at the project’s launch last year, you should have listened to speakers who cautioned you against personalizing that project, as it’s an overdue government project that many before you and current have contributed to its actualization.

So, your anonymous praise singer: no, the Bamasaba should not rally behind Hon. Nambozo. Not when they’ve already witnessed what her brand of leadership delivers division, neglect, and vanishing resources. It’s my humble advice that other than clinging onto the universal government projects and programs, you come out clear and account to the people of Sironko by showing them what you have managed to do for them in your individual capacity in the preceding ten years of your idle stay in Parliament.

In 2026, the people of Sironko won’t be swayed by printed PR and recycled promises. They’ll remember what was said, what was done, and more importantly, what wasn’t.

The curtain is closing, Hon. Nambozo. And the audience is no longer clapping.

  • Hon. Nambozo Florence Wamala Where is the Record of Impact?

Hon. Nambozo Florence Wamala Where is the Record of Impact?

We have read with interest the glowing narrative titled “From Classroom to Cabinet: The Humble Journey of Minister Nambozo.” While we acknowledge the significance of one’s journey into leadership, we must also ask: beyond the titles and positions, what tangible, measurable impact has Hon. Nambozo Florence Wamala made particularly in empowering the vulnerable and advancing the rights of the girl child in Sironko District?

It is one thing to occupy office, but it is another to serve meaningfully and leave a legacy. For the past ten years as Woman Member of Parliament for Sironko and now as State Minister for Karamoja Affairs, we respectfully demand a clear, verifiable list of programs, initiatives, or interventions spearheaded by Hon. Nambozo to:

    1. Empower vulnerable women and youth in Sironko,

    2. Improve the lives of adolescent girls and promote their education,

    3. Provide access to health, water, or economic opportunities for the marginalized,

    4. Uplift communities both within and outside her district in line with her national mandate.

    5. Where are the youth empowerment projects? Where are the girl-child programs? Where is the fight against early marriage, domestic violence, and school dropout in Sironko? What has she done in Karamoja to address the very issues she is entrusted to manage?

Leadership should be more than ceremonial speeches and photo opportunities. The people of Sironko and indeed Uganda deserve more than media praise; we deserve results.

We challenge Hon. Florence Nambozo Wamala to present a comprehensive 10 year report of her achievements, with locations, beneficiaries, and outcomes. Not promises. Not slogans. Results.

Until then, the celebration feels premature.

  • Minister Florence Nambozo hounded by peasant farmer in NRM Elections showdown

Minister Florence Nambozo hounded by peasant farmer in NRM Elections showdown

Mutufu Town Council, Sironko District: Mr. Kiisa James, a humble peasant farmer and former Town Council Chairperson of Mutufu, who has stunned political observers by handing the State Minister for Karamoja and Sironko District Woman MP, Hon. Florence Nambozo, a political humiliation in the just-concluded NRM Structures Elections.

Kiisa, whose feud with the Minister traces back to 2024 when she allegedly blocked him from meeting President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni during his visit to Mutufu, suffered a stroke shortly after the incident. What many thought would be the end of his political journey instead became the start of a powerful comeback.

On May 16, 2025, Kiisa challenged Hon. Nambozo for the position of General Secretary for Mutufu Town Council, defeating her by 10 votes. In a dramatic twist, chaos erupted when the Minister’s team reportedly disrupted the process, leading to its cancellation. A re-run scheduled for May 17 failed to yield a result after her camp allegedly attempted to sneak in non-eligible voters, a move that further dented her credibility and forced another postponement.

But the real knockout came not at the linking up of electorate.

In a masterstroke of strategy, Kiisa petitioned NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson Dr. Tanga Odoi, highlighting that Hon. Nambozo, who initially contested in the Women’s League in ward that was not her own, was ineligible to switch and contest for a mainstream position in a different structure. Dr. Tanga Odoi swiftly acted, declaring Mr. Kiisa unopposed and ordering Hon. Nambozo to withdraw her candidacy within two hours to avoid bringing further embarrassment to the party.

“This is a senior leader in government. How can she fail to comprehend the most basic election guidelines of our party?” a source close to Dr. Tanga Odoi was quoted as saying.

Now, all eyes turn to Friday, May 23, 2025, dubbed by political analysts as her Waterloo. On that day, the embattled minister will face off against the formidable NRM Chairman and presidential model farmer, Mr. Mafabi Sulaiman Lumolo, in the race for Sironko District NRM Chairpersonship.

For a woman who once towered over the political landscape of Sironko, Hon. Florence Nambozo now finds herself reeling under the weight of strategic miscalculations, grassroots rebellion, and the rising tide of the very structures she helped build.

Whether she can regain her footing or be swept away by the new wave of NRM loyalists is a story only the next ballot can tell.

    Crumbled: Hon. Florence Nambozo Wamala

Victory storms through Sironko as Hon. Florence Nambozo Wamala’s Empire crumbles like headless chicken

Mutufu Town Council, Sironko District: It was a political earthquake. The kind that rumbles from the grassroots and shatters thrones once thought immovable. Today, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) office in Sironko District was a scene of roaring chants, ululations, and thunderous celebration as the tides turned completely and decisively against Hon. Florence Nambozo Wamala, the Minister for Karamoja and sitting Woman MP for Sironko District.

In a dramatic twist that has sent shockwaves across the political corridors of Bugisu, all candidates aligned with the anti-Nambozo camp triumphed in every position they contested for during the NRM Structures Elections. But the crown jewel of the day’s victory was none other than Mr. Kiisa James, the indefatigable farmer-turned-political-warrior, who not only won the seat of General Secretary for Mutufu Town Council but sailed through unopposed—his path cleared by the weight of justice and a damning directive from the top electoral command.

    The Fall of a Minister

Just yesterday, in a stunning intervention, Dr. Tanga Odoi, the NRM Electoral Commission Chairman, made an urgent pronouncement: Hon. Nambozo must withdraw her candidature for General Secretary of Mutufu Town Council. The reason? She was not eligible to contest for that seat, having come from a different Ward aligned with the Women’s League. The Minister, once known for her iron grip on Sironko politics, was publicly exposed for trying to exploit a loophole, and it backfired spectacularly.

    Crumbled: Hon. Florence Nambozo Wamala

Eyewitnesses say the mood at the district NRM offices today was nothing short of electric. The moment it was confirmed that the Minister had been disqualified and that her rivals had swept the board, the crowd erupted into song, dance, and tears of vindication. “The mountain has finally moved!” one elder was heard shouting as he hoisted a party flag into the air.

*Kiisa James: From Stroke to Symbol of Resistance*

Few stories are as powerful as that of Kiisa James, the man who beat not just political odds, but personal tragedy. Last year, after being denied access to President Museveni during a visit to Mutufu, a move allegedly orchestrated by the Minister. Kiisa suffered a near-fatal stroke. Many thought he would never recover. But today, he stood tall, victorious, and vindicated, becoming the very symbol of a community’s resilience and the people’s will.

“This is not just a win for Kiisa, it’s a win for all of Mutufu. For the neglected, the insulted, the intimidated, and those who were told they were nobodies,” shouted a youth leader, visibly emotional.

Chaos Averted, But Tension Still Simmering

Though security was tight and tensions ran high in the run-up to the announcement, no violence broke out today. Nambozo’s supporters were largely absent, with rumors swirling that she had retreated to Kampala following her public humiliation. “She knew the storm was coming,” one woman whispered. “She fled before the flood.”

But behind the celebrations lies a sober truth. The events of the past week from the attempted election rigging, the vote-stuffing scandal, to the desperate reruns have painted a grim picture of a leader once feared but now reduced to political maneuvering and voter manipulation.

    The People’s Verdict

Today, Sironko didn’t just elect new leaders. It rebuked tyranny. It reclaimed power. In doing so, it may have rewritten its political future. What was once whispered in homes and trading centers has now been shouted from the rooftops: Florence Nambozo no longer commands the people’s trust.

As the NRM Secretariat in Kyadondo prepares to review the reports from Sironko, one thing is certain: the revolution in Mutufu is not just a local affair—it is a message to the entire nation.

The people are watching. And this time, they’re not blinking.
