    UTB celebrates Miss Tourism at an evening of glamour

    Sheraton, Kampala: Following Anita Ayebare’s impressive showing at the 74th edition of Miss Tourism World Pageant, the beauty queen was officially welcomed back into the country by Uganda Tourism Board at a cocktail event at Sheraton Gardens.

    Ayebare, who was the second runner up at Miss Tourism Uganda in 2017, emerged as the fourth runner up at the global pageant that was held in Zagreb, the Croatian Capital on Saturday June 1, 2019. This was the first time that Uganda was taking part in the prestigious event.

    The overly joyed Ayebare said that she was happy to have represented and shared her country’s beauty and diversity with the rest of the world.

    “I am happy that i have been able to present the beauty of my country to the world, for a country that was participating in Miss Tourism World for the very first time, Uganda finishing in the position that we did was phenomenal. As a beauty queen, my role is one, to capture the attention of those around. If you must promote something, you must present something beautiful and that is exactly what i did in the completion, i represented and presented my country in a beautiful way,” she noted.

    The Uganda Tourism Boards CEO, Lilly Ajarova congratulated the beauty queen on her performance.

    “It is a pleasure that we welcome you home as a winner. We are delighted and very proud of your efforts of promoting the Pearl of Africa to the rest of the world and holding our flag high,” she noted.

    The evening was attended by the Deputy CEO Uganda Tourism Board Bradford Ochieng, the reigning Miss Tourism Margaret Kankwanzi, and the CEO Miss Tourism Kanyike Allan Bweteamong others.

    The CEO Miss Tourism Kanyike Allan Bwete thanked Uganda Tourism Board for the support that they offer to platform such as these whose main goal is promoting destination Uganda.

    “We are glad to be working with UTB as a partner, our vision at Miss Tourism Uganda is to see that pageants such as these which are great platforms for enabling Ugandans to tell their stories about their country’s cultural diversity continue to reach out to more people. We are committed to ensuring that we stay true to our promise of promoting Uganda to the world,” he noted.

    Uganda Tourism Board CEO also flagged off this year’s edition of Miss Tourism Uganda 2019/20. She called upon all young ladies citizens of Uganda to register in their respective regions to participate in Miss Tourism Uganda that is full of opportunities as you have all witnessed. The grand finale will be hold on 4th October 2019 at Kampala Serena hotel.

    Uganda’s Tourism Queen excels at Global Pageant

    Kampala: Anita Ayebare, Uganda’s representative at the just concluded Miss Tourism World pageant emerged among the top contestants at the prestigious event. Ayebare who was the second runner-up at Uganda’s Miss Tourism competitions in 2017 emerged fourth runner up in the grand finale that took place in the Croatian capital Zagreb.

    The beauty queen stood out for her eloquence and knowledge of the tourism industry and was the only African representative left in the running for the global crown at the finale. This was the 74th Edition of the Miss Tourism World pageant and it was the first time that Uganda was taking part in the event.

    A promotional video submitted by Uganda was also recognized as one of the best having been ranked second among those submitted by the participating nations. This supplemented Ayebare’s impressive presentation of Uganda to the judges.

    An elated Ayebare said that she was happy to have represented her country and also sharing Uganda to the world.

    “I am thrilled that Uganda was able to finish in that position despite this being the first time that Miss Tourism Uganda was participating. Now, I can do more tourism advocacy for my country,” she said.

    Adding, “I have been working on projects in the climate change realm and that is what I am going to continue doing. People are not really taking climate seriously and this is something that we all have to join forces to create more awareness because this is a real threat. Without good climate, we cannot talk about a beautiful Uganda.”

    Lilly Ajarova, the Chief Executive Officer of UTB noted that this achievement was another seal of approval from global pageants, reaffirming that Uganda is not only blessed with some of the world’s best tourist attractions but also people who are able to articulate this beauty to the world.  

    “We are happy that we are getting global recognition in areas that are helping us hoist Uganda’s flag higher. Ayebare is a focused, intelligent, motivated individual and we are happy that she is representing Uganda well. This is also confirmation that the organizers of Miss Tourism Uganda are actually helping to unearth individuals with impeccable talent and at the same time helping them attain global exposure,” she stated.

    Ayebare, who hails from Kitagata in Sheema District won the Miss Tourism Ankole 2017 crown and went on to emerge as one of the top three during the national competition.

    Her achievement comes at a time when Uganda is on the drive to promote her pristine destinations to the local and International community.
