Abryanz releases an appreciation message after the successful ASFAs

The CEO of Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards (ASFAs) Ahumuza Brian has wrote an appreciation message after his successful awards a week ago. Below is his full statement;

It always takes me one week to process the just concluded Abryanz Style & Fashion Awards, and even now, I still haven’t wrapped my head completely around it.

Putting together an event of this magnitude after the pandemic is an actual milestone for me, but guys, we just did!!!

I am beyond proud, honoured and thankful for everyone that made a contribution to this show. When I say everyone, I mean from the security, service providers, partners, sponsors, performers, showcasers, nominees, interns, the media, and the general public that bought tickets.

Coming back this year has taught me a lot, especially from an industry where I thought I knew the most. But coincidentally, this years theme “The Awakening” is all about self actualization. The will to look deep inside and find the essence for who we are, and then using that to trumph over everything else. This years show required me and my team to do exactly that, most likely as lifes way of emphasizing our comprehension of the theme.

“The Awakening” is all also about community, focusing what unites us, and not what divides us because this legacy is not just for me, it is for us as an industry, for us as a nation, us as a continent, us as Africans, as black people, and as a humanity.

As my friend Moses Moshions always says, “It takes a village”, and I am a lucky man to have all of you in this village☺️. What we just did was a launch into the future, Africa’s biggest Award show (ASFAs 2023) will be a teleport, an actual mystic existence. Its the year we leave a mark on the globe and step out as an awakened unit that has come together. And only God can stop that, but he wont😌!

Sheba Kassami receives first award nomination for ASFAS

Discovered back in 2017 by Celebrity Stylist, Brian Ahumuza, Fashion Designer Sheba Kassami, later on, released her first collection which was unveiled at the prestigious Abryanz Style & Fashion Awards in the same year.

Over the years, the designer through her brand, SKP Clothing brand has gone on to cement its place on the Ugandan fashion scene, and recently received her first-ever award nomination in this year’s ASFA Awards, under the Designer of the Year category (Uganda).

The designer, who expressed her delight at this nomination will also be part of a must-see lineup of designers slated to showcase at this year’s edition of the Fashion Awards.

“This is a true honour for myself and the entire SKP Clothing Line brand. It has been a remarkable journey from 6 years ago when I was discovered and to be nominated on this same platform that launched me is humbling. Congratulations to all the designers in the category and I believe that regardless of who wins, we are all winners, and this is a step further in building our industry,” Sheba explained.

The Ugandan designer is also part of a line-up of designers including David Tlale, and Mai Atafo that will be showcasing at the event slated for Friday,16th December 2022 at the Kampala Serena Hotel.

“I know all the designers are amazing, but I am personally looking forward to seeing Nigerian Designer, Mai Atafo’s collection. If you are familiar with the brand, then you know nothing spells classic like a Mai Atafo creation. It’s the finesse, the style, the hues selected that make his pieces statement,” she stated.

ASFAs returns, set to host Fashion Weekend ahead of mega Awards ceremony

The Abryanz Style & Fashion Awards is set to host Fashion Weekend on 11th, 12th and 13th November at MoTIV in Kampala from 9:00am.to 6:00pm.

The awards are well-known globally for the role it plays in advocacy

and convening dialogues around social issues about the Business of Fashion in Africa and its sustainability.

This is usually achieved through the use of Workshops, High-Profiled Speakers

and Summits around fashion in Africa.

Coming back after 2 years, ASFAs presents a 3-day Fashion Weekend. The event will reflect on how the fashion industry has gone through many changes in the last years.

We saw big brands with a lot of resources struggling to navigate this new normal, and thought; how much harder can it be for local, small and medium enterprises?

“To be a young designer navigating the markets, especially after the pandemic is not easy. This fashion weekend is a platform for young creatives who seek for futuristic opportunities to

The ASFA Fashion Weekend

Pictorial: Night of The Stars as the ASFAS mark seventh edition

Kampala: It was a night embossed with bold fashion statements as East Africa’s most celebrated fashion awards, Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards (“The ASFAs”) marked their seventh edition.

The country’s icons of style flocked the Kampala Serena Hotel to celebrate the latest episode in a journey defined by class and glamour, and boy did they, as expected, outdo themselves!

Clad in dazzling designs to match the theme night, aptly named The Stars, there was no shortage ofstardust on a red carpet brought to life by some of the city’s most fashion forward folk.

From Martha Kay to Pia Pounds it appeared the celebrities had chosen to celebrate the end of the year in signature style, a fitting tribute to the ethos of Ciroc, who for the third year running partnered with the ASFAs.

From the elegant to the striking, every look was on offer, fashionistas spared no effort to look their best for one of the African continent’s most iconic fashion event. Yet on the conference hall staircase it was arguably Malaika’soutfit that stood out in redefining the theme while also making a glamorous fashion statement.

Among the biggest winners on the night was Spice Diana who scooped ‘Stylish female celebrity of the year’ wearing a dazzling creation .

Jidenna received the icon Award from Uganda Breweries MD Alvin Mbugua and Asfas founder Brian Ahumuza. He was all praises for the world class show.

“I’m from Brooklyn New York and I attended the New York Fashion Week, but this is better produced that many of the shows there,” he said.

Oswald Boateng, a world renowned designer of Ghanaian descent was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The highlight of the night was an electrifying performance by American rapper Jidenna who got the house on its feet with his hit tracks Bambi and Classic Man. And reminded all why the Ciroc–sponsored event is one of the most alluring andmost sought–after events of the year.

“It’s been three years since we embarked on thisjourney with Abryanz Styles and Fashion Awards and we are delighted that with every edition the bar is raised higher on the aspiration for sophisticated elegance, which is what Ciroc is about,” said Annette Nakiyaga the Head of Luxury Portfolio at UBL.

The 7th edition of the ASFAs evening was crowned off with a Ciroc After Party held at the industrial area–based night spot; Guvnor.

Debie Kagisha scoops ASFAs nomination

Socialite and Fashionista Debie Kagisha is bobbling shoulders high after scooping nomination in Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards 2019.

The glamorous fashionista was nominated in the category of Female Fashionista of the year alongside Mwaj Ahmed, Kentie and Kamusiime Sharon. Debie said she overwhelmed by the nomination.

“I’m overwhelmed, it means alot, atleast all the hard work i put into this (fashion world) didn’t go unnoticed. Very humbled,” Debie told us.

American star Jidenna confirmed for two big shows in Kampala come December

Last night American artist Jidenna was revealed as the headlining international act for two of Kampala’s most anticipated events, Ciroc’s Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards (ASFAs) and the Tusker Malt sponsored Blankets and Wine’s end of year finale 2019.

The revelation was officially announced by Talent Africa Boss, Aly Alibhai during the ASFAs Nominees Release ceremony held at Kingdom Kampala.

The Classic Man star will be making his way into the party central of Kampala for the two events slated to take place subsequently on Friday, December 13 and Sunday, December 15.

The Cîroc sponsored event, Abryan Style and Fashion Awards (ASFAs) 2019 has been designed to be the most star studded ASFAs under the theme ‘The Stars.’ The iconic fashion event which will take place at the Kampala Serena Hotel in December will also host Ghanaian born British fashion icon, Ozwald Boateng known for his trademark twist on classic British tailoring and bespoke style.

“Jidenna stands out as a profound fashion forward artist worldwide. Both Jidenna and Ozwald have used their stardom to push African fashion beyond borders and we are glad to be hosting them this year,” said Brian Ahumuza, Founder ASFAs.

Jidenna, born Jidenna Theodore Mobisson, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter and record producer of Nigerian descent. His two singles, “Classic Man” and “Yoga”, brought him immense success. He is currently signed to Wondaland Records under Janelle Monae.

With December a few weeks away, Kampala’s thrill seekers are already anticipating a turn up in full swing with the two events promising to be the ‘litest’ events. For those who will not have had enough of Jidenna at ASFAs, the 24th edition of the picnic themed music festival, Blankets and Wine will surely be a must-attend with guaranteed fun for many of the city’s socialites and music lovers.

ASFAs 2019 nominations open under 14 categories

The Abryanz Style & Fashion Awards (ASFAs) is an African fashion award ceremony that acknowledges and celebrates African fashion industry stakeholders. The “Nomination” process has officially opened yesterday September 24th 2019, to the general public and closes on the 8th, October 2019.

The seventh edition of the ASFAs will be held under the theme, “THE STARZ”. Set to be the biggest edition yet with a mission to highlight the tradition of selflessness of the African nation to uplift one another through advancements of adaption, and the modern global status quo with compelling ideas between self identity and recognition of ownership.

This theme seeks to emphasize that the new outlook of the future African generations is for “US BY US” hence its name the STARZ.

ASFA 2019 will celebrate African creative across 14 categories. In line with the ASFA 2019 theme, ‘The Starz’, this year’s show will also feature special HONORARY AWARDS i.e. ICON AWARD, LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT

AWARD, POSITIVE CHANGE and SPECIAL RECOGNITION AWARD FOR INNOVATION.

Abryanz, Talent Africa Team up for this year’s Abryanz Style & Fashion Awards

The biggest Red Carpet Fashion awards Abraynz Style and Fashion Awards (ASFAs) are back this year.

The ASFAs CEO, Ahumuza Brian, has this afternoon announced the awards this years will be bigger and better but also aimed at rewarding stars hence the theme “THE STARZ”.

The Abryanz style and fashion awards are slated for 7th December 2019 at the Kampala Serena hotel. “The awards show celebrates and acknowledges African fashion industry stake holders including fashion designers, models, icons, media influencers amongst others.” Abryanz revealed.
