President M7 to address the nation over COVID-19 as cases soar

As he begins his new term in office, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will this Saturday address the nation over soaring cases of Covid-19.

The address comes as second wave of the pandemic threaten health system in the country.

For the last one week, cases have been soaring and all ICU both in Mulago and Entebbe are full prompting government to reopen Namboole. Latest results show 637 new cases in a day. The situation is alarming;

“I will address the nation tomorrow at 8:00pm regarding the COVID-19 situation. The address will be live on all Television and Radio stations. Ensure that you tune in. Thank you,” M7 tweeted.

According to the Ministry of Health, Results of COVID-19 tests done on 26 May 2021 confirm 637 new cases out of 4,697 samples tested.

The cumulative confirmed cases are 45,231.

Cumulative deaths: 361

Test positivity rate: 13.5%

Active cases on admission: 241

Cumulative recoveries: 43,401

Total persons vaccinated against COVID-19: 565,163.
