Kampala: The Ugandan music scene’s renaissance was unmistakably on display Saturday night at the Ndere Cultural Centre. In a vibrant fusion of culture, high-energy Afro-pop, and refreshing innovation, Joshua Baraka’s inaugural concert, “B’raka Land,” set a new benchmark for live performances, with Bell Citrus adding zest to the night.

From the moment attendees entered B’raka Land, they were immersed in an unforgettable experience. Guests strutted down a custom walkway framed by a lively citrus backdrop, capturing moments at an interactive mirror photobooth.

Sampling bars stationed throughout the venue ensured that Bell Citrus was not only the first taste of the evening but also the first photo opportunity. As the amphitheatre filled with enthusiastic fans, the stage was ignited by the raw talent of Uganda’s emerging artists. Performances from Ricky Odrey, Aijuka, and Kamanzi served as a perfect prelude, showcasing the promising future of Ugandan music.

The atmosphere buzzed with anticipation as Etania took the stage, leading to a dramatic blackout that engulfed the amphitheatre. In a breathtaking moment of darkness, the stage erupted with light, and a high-energy Citrus dance troupe burst onto the scene, heralding the triumphant entrance of the King of B’raka Land and the official rebirth of Bell Citrus.

Joshua Baraka instantly connected with the audience, performing tracks from his debut album Baby Steps to his latest release, Juvie. A standout moment occurred mid-set when he paused to raise a pitcher, prompting fans to lift their Bell Citrus bottles in a communal toast to a new era. For Bell Citrus, the event marked a powerful relaunch. “We promised ‘Flavour with a Zest,’ and the energy here embodies that: young, vibrant, and refreshing,” said Lillian Kansiime, Brand Manager for Bell Citrus.

“Joshua Baraka represents what this drink stands for: innovation and a fresh new twist. Thank you all for supporting Baraka and Bell Citrus as we blend our classic heritage with a modern, zestful experience.”

Adding to the celebration, surprise appearances from Maurice Kirya, Mun G, Big Trill, A Pass, and Isabel Twongeirwe toasted to Baraka’s headliner moment, reflecting on their shared musical journeys. Baraka took a moment to express gratitude to his mother for his roots and to his fans and sponsors for their unwavering support as he continues to evolve musically.

As Baraka concluded his performance, the Ssese Nation DJs took over, closing out the night at Ndere Centre. The echoes of cheers and the zest of the experience lingered on, marking the launch of a new flavour and setting a fresh standard for concert experiences. Welcome to the zest. Welcome to the flavour. Welcome to B’raka Land.

Aly Allibhai, CEO of Talent Africa Group, commented, “Into the B’raka land is not just a celebration of music but a testament to the vibrant culture of Uganda. We are proud to support artists like Joshua Baraka who are pushing boundaries and redefining the concert experience. Together with our partners, we are committed to creating unforgettable moments that resonate with audiences across the continent.”
