Kayanja was recognised and awarded during the UBLs Annual Farmers Symposium that took place at Hotel Africana on Thursday.
Kayanja who scooped three awards,called for partnerships and collaborations for the sector to support the countrys development Agenda.
While handing over some of the awards, the minister of state for Agricu;lture Bwino Kyakulagha commended Kayanja and called on other players in the private sector to support farmers access markets for their produce.
The Managing director UBL Andrew Kalonzo hailed Kayanja and pledged to work with the pastor to transform the people of Karamoja through agriculture.
The awards that were in three categories include
DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION EXCELLENCE AWARD:
Expanding sorghum into Karamoja through growing of 2000 acres helped on board vulnerable communities into the sorghum value chain and thus championing income work streams within the rural households and contributing to food security and availability.
COMMERCIAL GROWER AWARD:
Undertaking largescale sorghum growing in Karamoja that brought onboard 2000 acres amidst challenging and changing weather conditions in the region
BREAKTHROUGH TECHNOLOGY:
Undertook production of 2000 acres of sorghum and Invested in modern harvesting technologies in Karamoja thus setting a precedence for commercial farming in the region..
