National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has revealed that it will add 50 million litres of water per day and serve customers efficiently when refurbishing Ggaba 2 plant is complete.

Due to the massive expansion and mushrooming development in Kampala, the water body is refurbishing its second plant Ggaba 2 water works to cater for the growing demand for water in Kampala service area.

The works when completed will add 50 million litres of water per day and serve our customers of Ndejje, Lubugumu, Lubowa, Seguku, Mutundwe, Nalumunye, Kabojja, Kyengera, areas along Masaka Road and the surrounding areas.

National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has increased the access to safe water from crisis levels in most parts of the country to 65% in rural and 72% in urban areas.

This has been achieved through investment in various technologies in rural areas and provision of piped water systems in various urban centres.

Sanitation levels such as pit latrine coverage have also improved to a national average of 74%. “Our focus on access to safe water and sanitation will continue with the aim of increasing piped water coverage in both urban and rural areas”, NWSC said.
