Several years ago, Miss Tourism Uganda introduced the “Let the Pearl Shine” campaign, aimed at annual city clean-ups and promoting anti-littering habits among Ugandans.
This year, the campaign expanded its scope to include promoting domestic tourism alongside its national sanitization efforts. Ivan Lugya, the Miss Tourism project Coordinator, highlighted the importance of exploring Uganda’s tourism destinations while emphasizing cleanliness. He encouraged visits to attractions like the Uganda Museum and the Zoo during the campaign activities.
Starting from the Independence Monument in Kampala, the Miss Tourism team embarked on a cleaning spree through various bustling areas of the city, including bus terminals and markets like Owino, Kisseka, and Kisenyi, as well as taxi parks.

The campaign, which has reached regions like Buganda, Tooro, Kigezi, Bunyoro, Teso, Rwenzori, Northern Uganda, and Ankole in previous years, continues to spread its message of environmental stewardship and domestic tourism promotion across the country.
