Mercedes-AMG-Based 900 Rocket Now ‘World’s Fastest SUV’ Claims Brabus

Brabus is back at it again with another remix on the Mercedes-Benz circuit with an official hype campaign now kicking off for the Brabus 900 Rocket Edition Mercedez-Benz GLE 63 S 4MATIC+ (4).

Brabus, a German aftermarket upfitting and restoration brand, is known for its keen ability to take a Mercedes-Benz from A to A+ with a series of modifications that make it look tougher and roar louder. They’ve been at it for four decades and appear to be running strong with this debut.

The “Rocket 900” spec has become more popular while discussing German performance tuners. This time, it’s using one that’s been seen on the Mercedes-AMG’s G63 G-Wagen and GT 63 S four-door supercar. The end result is what’s being called “the World’s fastest SUV.”

One may try to draw a comparison between this superfast vehicle and the Lamborghini Urus, but there’s really no contest. The Brabus 900 Rocket Edition Mercedes-Benz GLE 63 S 4MATIC+ (6) wins hands down.

Here’s what’s so impressive about the ride. The 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 boosts it towards 62 mph in 3.6 seconds, reaching maximum speeds at about 190 mph. The enlarged version, by Brabus, is a 4.5-liter V8, getting to 60+ in just 3.2 seconds, topping out at about 205 mph.

The writing’s on the wall. Where Mercedes-Benz has been bold, Brabus is bolder. The upgraded vehicle boasts 900 horsepower, up from the 605 the original packed. Talking torque, the aftermarket model offers 921 (lb-ft) as opposed to the dealer version’s 627.

What was already fast is now faster, and Brabus is coming after the crown when it comes to the “World’s fastest SUV” title. It’s going to be challenged on the podium because of its aftermarket status, but that doesn’t mean it did not win the race.

Lowkey upgrades and fixes make the ride even more desirable. For example, aerodynamics were considered, evident by the rear spoiler and full-carbon diffuser. Axel lift is enhanced with an innovatively designed chin spoiler.

Backpressure is reduced by controlled valves, putting the focus on the sounds of the machine at work. The “Sport” bolsters the V8’s howl, and another mode allows the driver to tone it down as not to be accused of becoming a disruption to the neighborhood (or worse).

The ride comes to complete a stop, safe and sound, with aero disc brakes and flashy red calipers. The “Superior Gray” exterior sits on Platinum Edition wheels (24 inches). A smaller option (just an inch less) increases the speed, though.

In a car being called “The World’s Fastest SUV,” one might think some corners were cut in the interior department, but that is not the case. The motifs on the outside are repeated within for a sleek red and black look complete with gray leather. There’s a lot of red, and it looks good.

A price hasn’t been locked down for this super SUV yet, but some reports have estimated driving one home could cost as much as $450,000 USD.
