SB: Tell us about yourself?
Linda: Well, my name is Linda Guhirwa. I’m 20yrs old, university student at MUK, first year doing Industrial and Fine Art. I love to paint and swim and binge watch series. I don’t party much, I don’t like being in spaces i can’t easily sleep in hehehe… I love showbiz in general, always have.
I want to be an actress and super model Insha’Allah. I’m shortsighted but I don’t like to wear my spects because everyone says I look mean/bitchy with them on, so when you see me around without them on, I most likely can’t see shit but I make it work. I hail from Kisoro District in South western Uganda and I am a Mufumbira by tribe.
SB: Apart from studies, what have you done so far?
Linda: Well, I’m a model for Sash’z Closet located at Garden City, I have been a judge for the Mirinda Miss Teen competition since 2016 with former Miss Uganda, Zahara Totto and Hot 100’s DJ Gero (and I was the 2nd Runner Up for the same pageant when I was 16).
I’m very selective about the work I do because the industry is tricky and some people are con artists so I do what I’m sure won’t give me a bad reputation and is legit and professional. I am also currently working on a web series that I hope will be successful.
SB: Where do you want to see yourself in the next five years?
Linda: In 5 years, I hope to be a known name in the fashion and movie industries in Uganda at least, if not global yet. I just hope to have done good work with both new and old names in the game and to have really cemented a concrete foundation for my reputation as a serious career woman in the sector. Five years can be a short or long time, depending on how people respond to my work. And with the changing technology, the sky is limit so I don’t want to set a boundary for myself but just to hope that in the next five years, my dream is not just a dream anymore. So wherever 2023 finds me, I just pray it finds me at least still working towards my dream if I’m not already there…been cause you know, these days, people try and fail and give up so easily. I don’t want to give up on my dream.
SB: Who inspires you in life?
Linda: I have a number of people who I look up to and these include Yara Shahidi, Kendall Jenner, Tyra Banks, Taraji P.Henson and Lupita N’yongo.
