The MSN have been lethal for Barcelona, netting 106 goals already this campaign

Arsenal were taught another lesson last night at the very gifted hands of Barcelona — or to be more precise, the MSN. That’s right, Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar were all on target — again — as the La Liga giants breezed past the Gunners to reach the quarter finals of the Champions League.

The Catalan club thumped the Premier League outfit 5-1, with only members of the MSN getting on the scoresheet for the Spaniards — after Messi’s brace in the first leg in London. Arsene Wenger’s side aren’t the first — and certainly won’t be the last — team to be battered by Barca’s big boys.

After all, no one seems to have an answer to the question: How do you slow down that lethal trio? The MSN have scored an insurmountable 106 goals combined this term, including 68 in La Liga. That is more than ANY Premier League team has mustered as an entire squad.

The English top flight’s most goal-hungry teams are Leicester and Tottenham with 53 — and they currently sit 1st and second in the league. Messi, Suarez and Neymar have 68 alone in Spain’s domestic top tier.

So, they score goals and can dig each other out of a hole if one or two of them are having an off-day. But what about when they are all firing on all cylinders last night? Well, all three of them have managed to find the back of the net in the same game a mind-boggling 11 times.

Bear in mind that they’ve only played together for 18 months and that statistic goes from impressive to just plain scary. Going back to their first season together and they were just as prolific — netting 122 times as a threesome.

Whatever happens, Barca will have at least 12 games left in the season — and that figure is if they fail to progress in the Champions League. Can they top last season’s total? 17 goals in 12 games. It’s a doddle for them, right?
