Kampala Restaurant Week Officially Launched
Hosted by The Pearl Guide, the Kampala Restaurant Week, a domestic tourism initiative geared towards restaurant exposure and exploration officially kicked off with a highly regarded launch event on June 2nd at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel.
Graced by Kampala’s top taste makers, guests were treated to sumptuous delicacies paired with the best varieties of Nederbug Wines that were on offer for the night. It was an intimate evening as the art of pairing food and wine could never be proved otherwise.
The official tasting of the inaugural Kampala Restaurant Week was presented by Master Chef Dhanushka Kumara of the Sheraton Kampala, who surprised guests with delectable gourmet canape selection.
Kampala Restaurant Week which runs from June 2nd-June 13rd is an ongoing 12 day festival that celebrates Kampala’s top eateries and chefs. The 40 participating restaurants, for the duration of the event, are all creating big special edition meals that they are all presenting to guests at low prices fixed to UGX 15,000 (Casual Meal) and UGX 25,000 (Signature Meal). The concept of the event is to attract people to visit the restaurants and experience their cuisine, ambiance, service and creativity at a discount.

In his comments, Philip Kalibwani Project Manager for Kampala Restaurant Week, highlighted that as Restaurant Week is on-going, there will be scheduled signature events in different areas in Kampala in celebration of different cuisines and food types.
These include Sweet Tooth Party at The Bistro Kisementi-June3th, Savannah Braai at City Ville-June 5th, Wine Wednesday at La Patisserie-June 6th as well as a Mystery Tasting Experience at Yujo-June 9th officiated by Heinrich Kulsen, a Wine Maker from South Africa.
