Fresh Dairy Laboratory receives recognition of Technical Competence from UNBS

Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) has awarded Fresh Dairy a Certificate of Recognition (UNBS/LRS/0008) that demonstrates technical competence and the operation of a laboratory quality management system permitted to perform tests on raw milk, UHT milk, Yoghurt, Ghee, Butter, Pasteurized milk and milk powder (skimmed and full cream powder). While the certificate remains valid, the Fresh Dairy recognized laboratory is also authorized to use the relevant UNBS recognition number to issue facility reports and or certificates.

UNBS has recognized Fresh Dairy for Microbiology and Chemistry/ Physio-Chemistry analysis of milk and milk products in accordance with the recognized International Standard ISO/IEC 17025:2005, which is the main ISO standard used by testing and calibration laboratories. The Certificate is valid from 28th September 2018 and will expire on 30th November 2020.

Fredrick Luyima, Manager Quality Assurance – Fresh Dairy, which is owned by Brookside Limited thanked UNBS for the Certificate of Recognition and said, ‘Fresh Dairy has invested in Research and Development that guides innovative product advancement in terms of quality and meeting the advancing consumer needs, tastes and preferences. To that end, we don’t accept any milk from farmers containing any preservatives or additives. All milk received is subjected to mandatory tests in our high-tech factory laboratory. This is further enhanced to guarantee health safety and quality control using our fully automated factory.’

Fresh Dairy currently produces a wide range of products to include Fresh milk, flavoured milk, Long life or UHT milk, powdered milk, Yoghurt, Butter, Ghee and Cream.
