The voters’ registration and updating exercise that was due to end today has been extended till 4th May. The Electoral Commission (EC) has extended the period to ensure that citizens show up in big numbers at registration points in the country. However, throughout this month the commission has severely pointed out and warned that there would be no extension of the exercise.Uganda's Electoral Commission Chairman Eng. EC Chairman Eng. Dr. Badru Kiggundu says the extension of updating voters register will see some of the commission’s activities on the electoral road map also extended though some will not be much affected. He urges the public that haven’t registered to do so within these four days claiming that the old voter register won’t be used for a new one to perform its duty. He said at a Press Conference held yesterday at the Commission’s office along Jinja Road.
