

Crested Capital wins spotlight initiative innovation award to address gender based violence in Uganda’s capital markets
Crested Capital have been recognized for our thought-leadership on corporate governance in the Capital Markets Industry by emerging as one out of four winners in the Innovation challenge to address Gender Based Violence (GBV) in Uganda’s private sector initiated by PSFU under the Spotlight Initiative.
The innovation award is meant to enable Crested Capital raise awareness about GBV related issues, particularly, in the Capital Markets Industry through workshops and presentations, as well as engaging market regulators to prioritize GBV policy as a licensing requirement.
We believe in equality, a harmonious work environment and safety for all individuals and are pleased to support efforts towards the attainment of the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular, SDG 3 (Good health and wellbeing), 10 (Reduced inequality) and 16 (Peace and Justice Strong Institutions).
According to Dr Thelma Awori, the Chairperson of the Board of Directors at Crested Capital “Gender based Violence is a core issue that should be continually addressed by all organizations because fear of violence impedes employees from realizing their full potential not just at work but also in their families.”
Ms. Nabakka Ruth, Crested Capital’s Ag.Executive Director, “Addressing violence is not just the role of human rights activists or NGOs, it is the duty of every company to protect its employees from harassment within and outside the workplace. As thought leaders, we are honored to be undertake this project that seeks to address violence in the Capital Markets industry.”
