Bukoto South constituency Member of Parliament contestant Hajji Muyanja Mbabaali has dismissed reports circulating on some media houses that court dismissed his academic papers. He said the reports by Daily Monitor and other media houses are false and propaganda created by his haters to divert his supporters.
He added that the case that was before Grade One Magistrate Ms Happy Ann Kyomuhendo on Friday morning was a defamation one where he sued Ponsiano Matovu for spreading false stories that he (Mbabaali) lacked academic credentials.

Ponsiano was summoned to court on Friday and appeared in the dock to defend himself.
“I presented my academic documents with my lawyers to the Grade One Magistrate in the presence of the accused Ponsiano Matovu and his lawyers including a letter of admission for mature age entry to Makerere University, a letter from the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE), which certifies a Diploma in Information Technology he obtained from Uganda Pentecostal University and another letter from the Electoral Commission (EC) that permitted him to stand as a candidate during NRM primaries. A one Lawrence Mugerwa is a journalist who testified having received the story to defame Mbabaali from Ponsiano. After our presentation, his lawyers submitted their defence and asked for more time which was granted by the Magistrate and she adjourned the case to 14th March 2016,” Mbabaali said.
The Magistrate didn’t dismiss or say Mbabaali’s papers were fake. Mbabaali has continued his campaign trail and is favourite to reclaim Bukoto South with a landslide victory.
