The registration drive is happening at all Africell shops countrywide, at all dealerships in addition to the mobile registration teams that have been deployed and are traversing all Africell network-reach areas across Uganda to have all simcards under the Africell brand registered.

And as an extra measure for users living abroad, Africell has added email ( and Whatsapp (0791188888) registration that will make it easier for their customers to register when they are far from an Africell shop or registration point.

With a promise to register customers in just about one minute, Africell’s easy registration process is faster with lesser hustles. Indeed Africell has put in place many initiatives to ensure that all their customers are registered.

With all supporting documentation, Africell customers can now have their sim cards registered in less than a minute. With a copy of recognized identification card, a customer just fills other details like date of birth, occupation, area of residence and they are good to go. In addition, all authorized agents are equipped with high end smartphones to register all customers to whom they sell SIM cards to.

To hype up the registration, Africell has intensified communication to ensure that all customers are aware of the deadline and take time to comply by advertising the exercise on all their media platforms including radio, television, print, social media and online pages.

Also SMS notifications have been sent to all their customers with missing information to provide their registration info via a dedicated email or via Whatsapp on 0791188888 or pass by any Africell shop or registration point to do so.

Africell is also working on an option for customers to update their information via a self- care portal subject to validation by the back office data entry team. The Africell team is also performing quality checks to ensure that the information submitted is valid and up-to-date. Africell confirmed that they will start blocking unregistered customers from making calls, sending SMS and opening data sessions beginning with the 19th of November.

This move is meant to force reluctant unregistered users to register their SIM details before the deadline in line with the UCC directive. Africell is taking the SIM registration as high priority project in order to ensure none of their customers loses connection due to an unregistered SIM and to make sure the security of Uganda is preserved from outlaws and unscrupulous conmen.
