The Minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) has officially opened a new market at Miracle Centre Cathedral Rubaga.
Gold Meadow Farm Farmers Market was yesterday launched by Hon. Frank Tumwebaze.
The market is an initiative by Pastor Robert Kayanja and his wife Jessica Kayanja.
“Happy to launch this morning a farmers market initiated by Pr RobertKayanja & Pr Jessica Kayanja . I thank them for this great initiative. When farmers manage & run their own market they eliminate middlemen. Its a good idea @MAAIF_Uganda
will engage @KCCAUG & @MoLGUganda,” Frank Tweeted yesterday after the launch.
Speaking during the opening of the market, Hon Frank Tumwebaze said, the gov’t has been building markets but they are not functioning well due to the problem of mismanagement and politicization.
He added that when farmers manage and run their own market, they eliminate middlemen and it’s a good idea.
He said his ministry will engage stakeholders on the matter.
