The Social Media FestUg an Annual Event organized by Business Focus is set to introduce the year to social media revelers with a mix of informative and fun activities.
Running on the theme; Redirecting Social Media To Impactful Social Networking Engagements, the Fest will bring real social media experience in a venue with free wifi where all social media engagements will be live on giant screens.

The event is sponsored by UCC and Ruparelia Group, while other patners include; NITA-U (internet partner), Next Communication, NBS TV and Next Radio (Media Partner), Uganda breweries, Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB), Ecobank, Davis & Shirtliff among others who will exhibit and showcase various digital innovations and products.

Richard Kamya the event Coordinator says, social media has taken root almost taking over mainstream media, and there needed to be an avenue where people can reminisce, learn, get new skills for running social media campaigns, effective communication on social media while celebrating the success of social media in Uganda.

The Fest is also aimed at boosting awareness and promotion of digital marketing and e-commerce amongst Ugandans so as to direct and amplify an impactful usage of social media through interaction with end-users, say Amon Baita the event Marketing Head. He argues all other brands especially in the digital industry to book for space to exhibit, brand, sell and make connections as well as direct feedback and face to face interaction between brands and customers since the event will bring together individuals, social media groups, influencers, bloggers, digital marketing agencies and government agencies.

Importantly, the event will have interactive sessions where various topics relating to ICT and internet, PR Management and marketing ,branding on social media will be discussed.
Moving forward the event will be an avenue for launching important innovations in the digital and online stratosphere so that a number of people get that first experience.
Amon says there’s no good reason for brands to keep advertising on social media platforms if there’s no avenue where brands can meet Social Media end users and have a direct interaction.
“Social Media FestUg’s vision is to be the biggest marketing social event in the region bringing all brands in direct contact with their audience,” he affirms.
