It was his comment, however, on which kind of player he would play first for the Uganda Cranes, that caught the eye for many.
“I would play the Ugandan professional playing 15 or 45 minutes in say, Sweden, ahead of a player playing 90 minutes in the (StarTimes) Uganda Premier League,” McKinstry told host Daniel Sebakijje.
This, McKinstry explained as, “That player in Sweden is playing at a higher level, training with higher quality players week-in, week-out. He definitely is the better player.”

The late-evening show (it starts at 10pm) also had McKinstry share on the kinds of formations he prefers to play, how he is getting to know the players at hand, what star player Farouk Miya can offer in this team, among so many other insightful discussions.
McKinstry formerly worked with the Rwanda National Team as Head Coach, a job that offered him a great insight into what Ugandan football is all about. He has also worked with the Sierra Leone National Football Team and in Bangladesh with a topflight club there.
