Kalungu: Double Q, a leading automotive distribution organisation in Uganda, has reaffirmed its commitment to making a meaningful contribution to the communities in which it operates through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. Under its Social and Ethical Responsibility pillar, Double Q has extended educational support to 35 school-going children from more than 20 schools in Kalungu District, with the aim of helping vulnerable children remain in school and pursue their educational aspirations.

The beneficiaries come from disadvantaged families and include children who have lost one or both parents, children from families affected by HIV/AIDS, as well as persons with disabilities who face additional barriers to accessing education. The support will include school fees and scholastic materials, helping to address some of the financial challenges that can prevent children from attending school consistently and participating effectively in their education.

Investing in Communities and the Future

Speaking about the initiative, Mr. Lin Yu, Managing Director of Double Q, said the company’s commitment to social responsibility goes beyond its commercial operations. “At Double Q, we believe that a successful business has a responsibility to contribute positively to the communities in which it operates. Our CSR strategy is guided by the desire to create meaningful and sustainable social impact, particularly in areas such as education, public health and community development.”

Mr. Lin Yu added that investing in children is an investment in the future of Uganda. “Education has the power to transform lives and communities. By supporting these 35 children, we are not simply meeting an immediate need; we are investing in their potential and giving them an opportunity to build a better future. We hope this initiative will make a meaningful difference in their lives and demonstrate Double Q’s commitment to being a responsible corporate citizen in Uganda.”

Making a Practical Difference

According to Mr. Richard Musani, Head of Marketing at Double Q, the initiative was designed to provide practical support to children whose educational journey is affected by difficult social and economic circumstances. “We recognise that for many families, the cost of school fees, books, stationery and other scholastic requirements can be a major challenge. For children who have already experienced difficult circumstances, including the loss of parents or living with disabilities, these challenges can become even greater. Our intention is to help remove some of these barriers so that these children can concentrate on learning and developing their potential.”

Mr. Musani further emphasised that the initiative reflects Double Q’s belief in community engagement as an important component of its corporate responsibility.

“This initiative is about putting our social responsibility commitment into action. We are particularly encouraged that the beneficiaries come from more than 20 schools across Kalungu District because it allows us to reach children in different communities. We believe that every child deserves an opportunity to access quality education, regardless of their background or circumstances.”

The initiative is expected to provide relief to beneficiary families while enabling the children to continue with their education with greater confidence and stability. For Double Q, the intervention forms part of a broader commitment to supporting initiatives that contribute to the wellbeing and development of Ugandan communities.
