In abid to cut costs and increase on steel production, Tembo steel Factory in Iganga has embarked on construction of a multi million power plant from bi products of Coal. This is aimed at generating cheap and effective power.

Tembo steel is one of the leading steel industries in Uganda possibly after steel Rolling Mills.
Their production capacity could not be easily established by press time.

An official from Uganda electricity company as a regulator when reached for comment on condition of anonymity said he is not aware of such progress saying a power plant cannot be built as if it’s a borehole adding that the regulator and government must get to know before.

A source told reporter in Iganga that on completion, it will be second after Kakira Sugar Factory.
Neither Mr Golo the Iganga head plant nor Mr Santos the coordinator of Iganga and Lugazi factories could be reached for comment.
