Bugweri District Woman MP seat hopeful Hon. Aminah Mutesi Nalugoda has said Uganda has lost a remarkable states woman in Hon. Mary Karooro Okurut. The former Minister, Bushenyi District Woman MP, teacher and publisher died last evening. Family sources say she has been unwell for sometime.

Posting on her social media platforms, Hon. Aminah Mutesi said the country has lost a remarkable states woman in Hon. Mary Karooro Okurut.

“Her service, integrity, and love for our country touched many lives. My heartfelt condolences to her family, colleagues and all Ugandans. May her soul find rest and her legacy live on,” Aminah Mutesi Nalugoda said.

Karooro Okurut who has been an outstanding personality in Bushenyi District Development attended Bweranyangi Primary School, Bweranyangi Girls’ Secondary School, and Trinity College Nabbingo before joining Makerere University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Literature (1977), a Master of Arts in Literature (1981), and a Diploma in Education (1982).
