Cadre Johnan Muhumuza commonly known as ‘‘Omugorozi’’ has announced his intentions officially to contest for Kyaka Central Constituency MP seat in Kyegegwa District in 2026. He has already set his team on the ground mobilizing for support.
Today we profile you who he is as 2026 general elections get closer and closer.
Cadre Johnan hails from Kyakatwanga LCI, Kabweza Parish, Kyegegwa Sub County in Kyegegwa District and is a Pioneer of Universal Primary Education.

He had his Primary Education at Bukere P/S, 1997-2003, then joined Kasambya Parents SS in Mubende District for his S.1 in 2004 where after joined Ihunga-Mugyera Basin SS in Ntungamo District 2005-2007. He studied his A‘level Education at Humura Senior Secondary School (Kyegegwa) District from 2008-2009. He joined Kyambogo University for a Bachelor’s Degree (BDS) 2010-2013 and later pursued a Diploma in Medical Records and Health Informatics (DMRHI) from Makerere Business Training Centre (MBTC), Kampala 2018-2020.

Johnan is currently the President of Kyegegwa District UPE Pioneers and the Medical Records Assistant Kazinga HCIII.

While at Kyambogo University, students nicknamed him RDC-Kyegegwa District due to his hard work, leadership skills and promoting Kyegegwa at the University.
In 2014, he joined a Basic Military Training Course at Kabalye Police Training School-Masindi where he qualified as a Trained Cadre.
He is currently pursuing a Certificate in Administrative Law at Makerere University.
Political Career
He began his political career while in P.4 at Bukere P/S as a Debate Organiser in the year 2000 and became the Headboy of the same school from 2002-2003.
He later joined Ihunga-Mugyera Basin SS in Ntungamo District where he served as Assistant Information Minister from 2005-2007.
In 2008, he was elected as Information Minister at Humura SS where he was nicknamed Informer due to good quality News he provided to students at the school.
From 2011-2012, he served as General Secretary Kyambogo University Development Studies Students Association (KYUDSSA).
From 2012-2013 he was elected Guild Representative Councilor (GRC) representing Mandela Hall to the 2013 Guild Cabinet at Kyambogo University and is now hopeful MP Kyaka Central Constituency, 2026-2031.
Contributions to Kyegegwa District
He registered 2017 citizens for National ID during the time he worked as Enrolment Officer in 2014.
From 2011-2019 while teaching at Humura and Kyaka SS, 1050 students have passed through his hands.
From 2015-2023, he compiled and submitted 682 HMIS reports used by the District to plan for her people.
Served the District in various capacities as Ag.CDO, Enrolment Officer and Medical Records Assistant.
Resolved 200 family conflicts.
Supported the construction of the District Administration Block by allowing continuous deduction of his salary through local service tax.
In 2021, he joined hands with others to lobby for the upgrade of Kyegegwa HCIV to the General Hospital when he mobilized 50 energetic youth to meet the Director General Health Services at Ministry Of Health (MOH), a plea that was later granted.
Promoted Sports Activities through the Charity Run, Started Self Help Project for the Women in Kyakatwanga LCI-Kyegegwa Sub County.
Conducted 30 Health talkshows in Kyegegwa Sub County.
Supported 20 Orphans with food and nonfood items.
Lobbied for the upgrade of Mpara HCIII into HCIV and this is underway.
What he plans to do
He wants to start Vuga Otwaale Project. Interested youth will be freely given brand new motorcycles to ride them for a year to enable them get a seed capital and buy their own.
Bargaining for reinstatement of allowances for health workers.
Starting a Health Insurance Scheme for the people of Kyaka Central Constituency which will later cover the entire District.
Introduction of skilling program for the unemployed youth in Kyaka Central Constituency.
Starting a Community Action Program to strengthen Burungi Bwansi and enhance Community Development.
Lobbying for Enhancement of Salaries for Civil Servants across Board.
Lobbying Government to take over the following Health Outposts in Kyaka II Refugee Settlement and upgrade them into HCIIIs. Bukere, Itambabiniga, Sweswe, Bwiriza, Byabakora.
Lobbying Government to construct decent accommodation facilities for teachers in all Primary and Secondary Schools.
Starting up a Village Food Store in the Constituency as well as starting a Scholarship scheme for needy children.
Supporting 200 voters to get free land titles in the constituency through a phased manner.
He is championing the starting of a District Canteen at the Headquarters through continuous lobbying.
Engaging Government to tarmac Kako-Kabweza-Bujubuli-Kamutumi road and the Liberation road,Kazo-Kyegegwa-Hapuuyo-Kibaale road among others.
Starting the Agricultural Seed Project (ASEP) by providing free Seeds to the farmers in Kyaka Central as a way of boosting agriculture and income among the people of Kyaka Central.
Holding annual Adolescent Assemblies as away of Counselling the youth on HIV/AIDS and making them like manual work.
His political motto is ‘Kugorra Ebiramaire loosely translated as Clearing the way.
He requests for financial support from relevant stakeholders to make him successful.
Meanwhile in 1985, his father Late Reuben Wirekire supported the NRA struggle with 100,000= towards the capture of Kabamba Barracks through the then leader of the Army General Salim Saleh.
“When I saw the peace and tranquility exhibited by the NRM Government that was supported by my father, I got inspired to join active politics through the same NRM Party that may father supported to come to power so that I equally serve the people of Kyegegwa District,” he said.
