7 Designers Confirmed As The Shebang Fashion Show Returns
The whole world commemorates World Menstrual Hygiene Day which happens every year on May 28th. In Uganda, The Wellbeing Foundation under their event Shebang Fashion Show celebrates the day by organizing a menstrual awareness fashion show.
The show that will be happening for the third time will take place at the Design Hub in Bugolobi on May 28th. Speaking at the press conference, Shyaaka Farid Lwanyaaga, the Founder of the Wellbeing Foundation said that the show uses design and fashion to communicate issues to do with menstrual hygiene and the stigma that comes with menstrual health.
The fashion show has put together different designers who will showcase their outfits on that day and according to Lwanyaaga, the design will be addressing climate change issues. Fashion according to Lwanyaaga is a powerful tool for global waste since these clothes are also thrown after use and this affects climate change.
Just like in the past editions, the money that will be collected from the show will go to the menstrual station in Kisenyi and will help young girls in the slums access free sanitary pads and also get lectures about menstrual hygiene and sexual reproductive health.
