The Uganda Revenue Authority has closed down Savannah Resort Hotel LIMITED in Kanungu belonging to late businessman Dr James Musinguzi Garuga over failure to pay its taxes.
This website can authoritatively report that the hotel is currently under lock and key after the tax man swung into action and placed its seal on the Kihihi based resort following several warnings from the Nakawa Based Tax entity to honour it’s tax obligations.
It has been revealed that the hotel and resort was closed due to the swindling and embezzlement of its funds by mainly Philip Musinguzi and Peace Kesiime Bagorogoza after the death of the managing director Dr James Garuga.
It is also reported that Philip Musinguzi has been diverting all the money collected by the resort into personal account which he has been lavishly spending it on expensive wines and spirits mostly his favourite Blue label in Kampala based Casinos. He is also reported to be an addicted gambler in most Kampala casinos where he spends the said funds like the world is ending tomorrow.

The resort which runs a hotel, an 18 hole golf course and an airport has also been earning over $7000 from daily flights alone from the airport whose clients are mainly tourists heading to Bwindi Impenetrable forest, Queen Elizabeth national park , Mugahinga forest and other private local flights to Kanungu district.
“The National Social security Fund is also demanding too much money because Bagorogoza and Phillip are embezzling all the money deducted from the staff salaries but they have not been remiting the money to the fund. The hotel has over 30 workers.” A Staff told this website.
Bagorogiza and Phillip are also said to have fraudulently sold 10 acres of the hotel land to a one Charles Mureeba without board authorization after it became dormant following the death of the hotel managing director and majority shareholder Dr James Garuga.
Bagorogoza and Phillip Musinguzi are also accused of fraudulently leasing out another 42 acres of the resort without any resolution of the board meeting.
