2026 Updates: Mugisha Paulas Karekyezi vows to make Ibanda South great as he eyes MP seat
Ibanda South Constituency in Ibanda District should be excited as Mr. Mugisha Paulas Karekyezi has officially announced his intentions to contest for the Member of Parliament seat come 2026.
The former United Nations staffer wants to see a new dawn in Ibanda South particularly and generally in Ibanda District.
He has set his sights on improving a number of issues in the Constituency and these are;
He wants to work on Agriculture improvement especially growing of coffee, banana and wants to set up two factories for coffee processing.
He wants Ibanda South to get a Health centre 4 because they have none at the moment and wants to see all health centres equipped with enough drugs and equipment to use.
On Infrastructure, he wants to see improved roads and regular maintenance of bridges especially in the areas of Bwahwa, Irimya and others.
He wants electricity to be extended to areas without it and wants to work with heads of schools such that there’s a good education system in the constituency and improved technical education to skill the youth.
Water supply scheme to be worked on such that all mapped areas get access to clean and safe water.
ICT integration for the benefit of the youths as a way of equipping them with skills to thrive in the current digital world.
They need to understand and learn how to use it to earn a living through this innovative technology.
Socially, Mugisha has supplied tents and chairs in all the 6 sub counties in the constituency for people to benefit in their social events.
He has also pledged to support sporting events in all Sub Counties (Inter Sub County friendly sporting competitions) so as to increase social bonding within communities of Ibanda as well as improving on their physical and mental well being.
He says the zeal to impart a wide range of experience from previous work especially in the United Nations, analytical skills that he possess from vast experience and Legislative ability from the knowledge of understanding the laws governing societies motivated him to contest for the Member of Parliament seat.
Who is Mugisha Paulas Karekyezi?
Mugisha Paulas Karekyezi is the 4th born of 8 children of Mr. Bikanya John Karekyezi and Evangilista Bikanya of Kakunama 2, Rugaaga, Keihangara Ibanda South in Ibanda District.
He was born in 1985 and attended St. Theresa and Kihani Primary schools before joining St. Kaggwa High school Bushenyi for his O’Level. He later joined St Joseph’s Vocational School Mbarara for his A’Level in the year 2004.
He holds a Bachelors Degree in BA – Management College of Southern Africa (MANCOSA) in Durban 2010 and a
Masters of Business Administration MBA which he attained in 2013.
He also has Customs Laws and Freight Forwarding certificate from FEAFA -URA College and currently pursuing Bachelors of Law (LLB) at Kampala International University (KIU) in year 4. He is married with two daughters and one son.
Work Experience
He has previously worked for the United Nations as Admin/ Operations Associate from 2010 to 2015 in Egypt, Chad , Sudan and lastly South Sudan respectively.
