2026 Updates: Former scribe Waniala Charles eyes Mbale City Northern Division Mayoral seat
Former media personality at Impact Radio Mbale, Mr. Waniala Charles aka Muwanguzi Sam has joined politics, we can confirm.
The former journalist was previously the speaker Nakaloke S.S.S and the Education Minister at the Institute of Management Science and Technology (IMSAT) Mbale Campus.
One of the things Mr. Waniala Charles wants to do is to promote talent in the city. He wants to see the Youth more engaged and practical because it keeps them busy from destructive minds and can make one rich.
Mr Waniala said they have previously had people who could promote and value talents; like Watenga at the National team and had GRT players like Junior Mazune, Enoka ,Bashiri, Muginga, Lason Mukwata, but they achieved nothing so if they stand with him, people of Mbale City Northern Division will benefit a lot from it. He said he is going to get for them sponsors.
He also plans to take the subject of skills serious. He wants to turn Mbale City people into job creators not job seeker and on this he bring trained personnel on ground to teach them local skills of which he will finance them to kick start individual or group projects.

He says politics are in his blood and he was given the title of “Empailume” of Nakaloke S.S when he was still the speaker.
His team is already on the ground mobilizing for support ahead of the ballot paper battle in 2026.
