‘Plant at least one tree on every birthday’, NWSC urges Kamuli residents

‘Plant at least one tree on your birthday to make Uganda Green again’, Kamuli RDC, Moses Dumba and the Vice Chairperson of the Board of National Water and Sewerage Corporation, Mrs. Ruth Asiimwe Kanyaruju today urged Kamuli residents.

Speaking on behalf of NWSC Board, Mrs. Kanyaruju directed the Area Manager Kamuli, Mr. Walakira Steven to spearhead the process of ensuring that at least every child in the school Kamuli Township Primary School (where the One Million Tree planting campaign was held) and people in Kamuli plant a tree on every birthday they celebrate.

At the launch of the one million tree campaign which took place yesterday in Kamuli championed by NWSC- Young Water Professionals, the Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga was the chief guest and implored all stake holders in this campaign to follow up on the trees planted.

‘The Headmaster of Kamuli Township Primary School should at least every day ensure that it is not only trees that are planted but also grass is grown and always watered. She also commended NWSC for planting fruit trees in the school and for ensuring that the environment is preserved.

The event was attended by a number of distinguished guests including the Minister for Karamoja and the Member of Parliament Kamuli, among others.

Speaking on behalf of NWSC management, the DMD Finance and Corporate Strategy, Mrs. Sylvia Tumuhairwe thanked the speaker for being part of the tree-planting campaign and as the patron of YWP she pledged support to the campaign throughout the country.
