Interview: Laura Kahunde talks about her role in NTV Second Chance Series

Actress Laura Kahunde is one of the actors of the new NTV Uganda Series ‘Second Chance’ where she acts as Angela. The sister to singer Juliana Kanyomozi was a few weeks unveiled as the chic who was acting in mask.

Showbiz Uganda (SB) sat her down and this is what she had to say about her role in the series. Read on…

Laura Kahunde

SB: How did you get onto the second chance?
Laura: I was contacted by the creative director, Who was looking for a replacement for the former actress of the role of Angella Byekwaso. When I met up with and auditioned for her, she told me i was what she was looking for. She also explained that the former actress ( Fabiola) had a busier schedule that involved a lot of traveling so for the good of the project she gave it up.

SB: Why did you opt for that role?
Laura: I dint have to opt for it, i feel like God had predestined me for the particular role, that is why there was one spot and I am grateful it came along.

SB: Tell us about the feeling got when acting in the mask
Laura: Being wrapped in the bandages was quite uncomfortable and talking was not that easy, but it’s what we actors do, we take on another person’s situation and live it. I imagined what it would feel like to go through this after getting burnt. I also imagined there could be someone going through it now, how do i tell their story!

SB: How did you feel about the role?
Laura: I empathised with the character Angella Byekwaso, i felt sorry that she had to go through that, and that’s how i was able to settle into being her. You have to feel the emotions of the character then u can understand how to be them.

SB: What challenges did you face?
Laura: Most of the challenges i faced came on the day my face was revealed on TV. I was very nervous i even forgot some of the lines for the scenes i was doing that day. Also some of the fans dint welcome me because they realised Anita was not portraying the role anymore. However they started coming round within a few days.

SB: What should your dear fans expect from you?
Laura: What my fans should expect is getting the entertainment they deserve. My music will also be coming out sometime this year, they should look out for it.

SB: What is your comment about your Uganda film industry?
Laura: The film industry in Uganda is very promising. We have come a long way and part of the public has not been very kind, we do need their support. They have to remember that Hollywood and Nollywood were not built in a day, they need to be patient with us.

Movie Premiere: Family & Steamy Hot Rides Stream Line ‘The Fate of the Furious’

Director F. Gary Gray

Writer Chris Morgan

Stars Vin Diesel, Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson

Rating PG-13

Running Time 2h 16m

Genres Action, Crime, Thriller

  • Opening at 3D Cinema Magic Naalya Tonight

In what has become a tradition, Universal is kicking off the summer in the middle of April with its eighth Fast and Furious title in the 16-year-old franchise. The Fate of the Furious opens this weekend, and in regards to its theatrical debut, it will be a shot heard around the world with an opening between $375M on the low end and $440M on the high end.

One of the givens of “Fast and Furious” is that the latest movie will be bigger and more enjoyably ludicrous than the last.  Family being the major knot binding the whole crew together for the past 16 years, the one that’s dropped with moist emotion and hushed Sunday-sermon reverence. It’s the idea that has held the franchise together movie to movie, race to race, prayer to prayer in an episodic soap about kith, kin and custom cars.

Then comes the monster rides and fast breath taking cars we have seen the past 7 settings of the squeal, you might want to get your seat belts on for the fastest cars and biggest stunts in the Furious franchise have been introduced in the biggest release by Director Gary which is expected to cruise past Furious 7 in regards to box office sales.

The miniskirts will be shorter, the toys ‘zoomier’, the stunts more delirious. Yet, like every successful series, this one delivers its sleek new bits and pieces in reassuringly familiar packaging. James Bond has queen and country. Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto — the monotonal “Fast and Furious” paterfamilias — has cars and camaraderie, an ideal combo for movies about American outsiders whose home has always been one another.

Jason Statham and Dwayne The Rock Johnson In Fate
Of the Furious

The new movie’s title, “The Fate of the Furious,” seems like a nod to the lingering existential crisis created by Mr. Walker’s death, as do the tears that fall in the story. They’re shed over time but before they are, the movie does what’s expected, which is cut loose attractive characters in different choreographed formations in assorted machines and locales. Directed by F. Gary Gray this time around tearing family apart and turning Dom against his own team. What follows is an un expected pairing of Dwayne Johnson together with Jason Statham to stop Dom from whatever his got himself into.

A Bond classic that isn’t regarded as part of the superspy film franchise, as it was created by a rival company that acquired the film rights years earlier. It competed outright with You Only Live Twice, and has a satirical tone that sets it apart from other Bond films. Astonishingly, it featured six directors.

An international crime ring with an eye on world domination realises James Bond stands squarely in their way and set out to eliminate him. To confuse them, six Bond alter egos appear on the scene. But only one James Bond can solve the case.

Licence to Kill at 13:40

Year:1989

Cast: Timothy Dalton, Robert Davi, Carey Lowell

Director: John Glen

The first Bond film not to use a title created by author Ian Fleming. Instead, it underlines a fact that Bond’s adversaries will do well to take note of: Bond can stop enemies of the state any way he pleases.

Bond is suspended by his superiors at M16, and decides to go it alone. Without any support, he pursues a drug lord who tortured and killed his friend. This time, of course, he is at the mercy of the law: he operates without his licence to kill.

GoldenEye at 15:52

A fascinating documentary account of the creation and history of the most influential film franchise in the history of action thrillers – if not the history of cinema.

Ian Fleming started writing his famous James Bond novels to stave off the boredom of his desk job in the British government’s secret agency. They were an instant sensation, and soon found their way on to the silver screen. Their history is as compelling as any Bond adventure.

The James Bond film series has never followed the sequence of the novels by Ian Fleming, and the 21st film is based on the first book, in which Bond is issued a licence to kill. The book also introduced the fact that 007 has a hard time keeping his eyes off a pretty girl. Same goes for the film!
